bored in germany, drama in thailand, crazy in manila \ cebu, cool down in Dumaguete

 

Beautiful ladies and a great tropical climate in which to live.

 

Came to the Philippines the first time visit the birthplace of my spouse (Manila) and stayed there on vacation. It was nice, but I never thought for a second that I would consider living there (and I still feel that way.) The second time I traveled to the Philippines I skipped Manila (except for NAIA, of course) and came to Dumaguete to attend an international church conference. I loved it. Now I will retire here...soon.

 

Just moved to socal from midwest and working as a IT contractor, while living in Hermosa Beach 18 years ago and saw a Cathay Pacific advertisement for the All Asia pass. Visited Bali, Bangkok, Cebu, HK on that trip. Met my wife to be and never looked back. Picked Dumaguete because of her family and seemed like a nice town. Diving was my primary motivation on my original trip. Until there only been as far west as Hawaii. I have to say that since I started visiting 18 years ago a lot has changed. Places like Panglao Island, Boracay and Phuket are now a zoo (relatively speaking) and have lost their charm in my opinion. Even Dumaguete has gone through a lot of changes. I wonder what Bali and El Nido are like these days. With 5-10 years to go before I am able to retire, I hope Dumaguete doesn't lose all it's charm.

Pinoy here, I grew up down south in Mindanao and it was beginning to get crazy there. 14 years ago my dad asked me to check on my sister who was then studying at Silliman and we were all wondering why it's taking her too long to graduate. I arrived in Dumagute, met her friends, saw the place and understood. I went back, reported to my dad and asked my then girlfriend in Zamboanga to marry me, she said yes and I transferred my small business here and called it home.

 

Well now, Refreshing Post, if it is Good enough for Mike as a Local (Filipino) then it should Certainly be OK with us.

 

Arrived in Bacolod in 1976 as a kid whose father was a missionary. Graduated from high school here in 1987, and then moved beck to the states where I attended college for a year and then settled into the grind.

Got married in 1995, and entered the ministry in 1999. Returned here in 2005 and 2014 on mission trips, and the last trip is when I knew this is where the Lord wanted me to return and work in full time missions.

I arrived here with my family in June 2015, and have almost completed my first job of revitalizing our publications department here in Bacolod.

Hopefully by August I'll be moving to the Dumaguete area to begin full time ministry there. I'll be working with College Campus ministry, and I'm also hoping to start a Fil-Am church to minister to Foreigners with Filipina wives or husbands. I am multi-lingual having grown up here. I speak fluent Ilonggo, (just like Filipinos) and mix in Cebuano when I'm in this area that I'm sure within a few months I will speak more Cebuano then Ilonggo.

I'm currently looking for a 4 bedroom house in the Bacong, Sacsac or Dauin area.
