My girlfriend (filipino from Dumaguete) and I (California, hoping to move here pretty soon) are starting to build a house here, We have a small one here in Banilad not far from Robinsons but this would be a bigger one in Batinguel. We have a 2.5yr old daughter and I intend to retire in this house so I want it to be built well. I am starting off with fencing the house with a cement wall and have a hired a builder at the recommendation of a local filipino couple friend of ours. they trust him very much. However, I dont feel like trusting anyone out there either for honesty or competence; don't want this thing crumbling in 1o years. So I want another builder to double check the blueprint, the cost of the materials, and the labor he has proposed. Anyone, has an experienced builder they have used before and can recommend ? thanks for any help in advance -Neal.
I used SM& MST Construction, owner Stanley Tineo, on the highway in Mangnao Dumaguete. Very satisfied with his work. SM&MST Construction, Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines
IMHO it's best to get a second quote and compare, just print off another set of plans and use that for comparison purposes. Having someone come in and look over what you have the first guy doing will probably p*ss him off and will ultimately affect the outcome of your job. Will you be here for the actual construction? Best investment you can make during the construction is a very comfortable lawn chair, park your butt in the middle of the site 8 hours a day and you will be amazed at the result.
