I suppose people could walk around with some "bait" bags with the dye markers that banks use in money bags and a small tracking device so you can find them and put them on Youtube.
My GF showed me a video from McDos in Duma on her iPad that was a group of four people sneaking a woman's purse into a backpack yesterday. Don't know when it happened but it was recent. She put her purse on the chair next to her while she worked and conversed. I wear a backpack, but it might have underwear and gym shorts in it most of the time. MY gf is now wary about her purse.
I always carry my bag cross slung over my shoulder and tend to not have easily breakable bags. If they make the snatch attempt they are going to be trying to take me along as well and hopefully give me enough time to swing out trying to knock the crap out of the grabber. My bet is the backseat rider will get yanked off and while my hand is around the throat of the attempted bag thief there partner would quickly abandon them.
I rarely ever carry a bag and if I do it's usually because I'm on a road trip and on a bigger bike. Snatch it if you like, but you better have one badass scooter and some awesome diving skills because I'm coming after my dirty underwear and socks!
Many years ago wrist watches were the target. Guys would come back to the ship with bad scrapes on their arms because the snatcher would grab the watch as the victim rode by in a jeepney with his arm stuck out.
I made a mistake while merging a few threads in another sub-forum (didn't notice a thread from another sub-forum was selected before I merged). If you receive a notification about posts being moved but everything looks the same this is why. Everything should be back to where it originally was.
I've been concerned with a similar incident, so as a precaution, I established numerous accounts with the same bank so that the transfer of funds is possible easily---I only carry one of the debit cards at a time, the others are stored in a secure place---all have different passcodes, but funds can be moved between accounts should it be necessitated by the theft/loss of one card. Not an ideal solution, but so far, it is effective.
