Nostalgic, a real classic. Did any old farts attend? Forgotten Woodstock: Never Seen Before Images of the Greatest Rock Concert of all Time!
Nope. Too young and lived in the Pacific Northwest during that time period. However, I do remember VORTEX - the Oregon version of Woodstock in August 1970. VORTEX was the only State-sponsored gathering of it's kind ever in the history of America. Oregon Governor Tom McCall was a very forward-thinking man in his day. This VORTEX event prevented a bloody show-down between the anti-war youth and President Nixon's and the pro-war conventioneer's (there were 1000's on each side of the war/anti-war fence converging upon Portland, Oregon, at the same time). As a young teen-ager, I was not allowed outside of my neighborhood during that week as my parents didn't want extra worry about the possibility of another "1968 Chicago" and my getting accidently caught up in it - should violence occur (it didn't really and was quite an event that really changed the political landscape in Oregon and for Oregonians).
