Jack, I just meant that we can burn that bridge when we come to it. We have plenty of wood for the barbecue already. Or I could say I have enough troubles, I don't need to borrow any.

So basically.... shut up and sit in the corner until there is an official function the President does not want to attend, then go and stand there for pictures? What else does the VP do besides wait for something to happen to the President?

The latest news, is that Duterte is considering giving Bongbong Marcos a cabinet post in a year. Strange times.

Strange times indeed, friends. The whole situation is quite worrisome. I'm waiting expectantly to see what our new President actually does; and where this "unleash the cops and vigilantes" policy really goes -- for Dumaguete and Negros. Good long-term results cannot be predicted -- but I've been wrong before, and would be pleased to be pleasantly surprised to see the entire archipelago become as "clean & safe" as the Davao City that I visited in January 2000.......

Just as an observer I see no constitutional duties in the RP for a VP only what the President gives specifically as a task. It's not like in the U.S. where the VP is the "president of the senate" or anything. There is no job description from what I can tell for a Phillipine VP.

The VPs website covers it a bit.
Pretty much the same as what a US VP would do. The Philippines doesn't have an Electoral College that needs to have the vote count certified and I'd bet they have way of dealing with breaking deadlocks in their Senate. The vast majority of a US VP's time is spent on informal duties not listed in the constitution.
