When i fist changed from PLDT to Globe broadband some time ago i was less than impressed, we never ever got the 5Mbps we paid for, fhe best was 4 or 4,5 which then dropped to 1 or 1.5,
every time we called to complain was same story, we have used our GB allowance so the speed drops so we gave up calling and accepted it :banghead::poop:
But over the last few weeks i have been keeping an eye on the speed with the ookla website and it is consistently 5 or just above :cigar::cigar:
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon ?

Alex, you're actually getting a ping of 4-5 or do you mean 45?

I also have the 5mb plan. Results 4.49Mbps down, 1.18Mbps up, I say that is pretty good for 6:39pm on a school night.

oh, though location might be of interest along with speed numbers. I am in Combado Bacong

I pay for the 2MB plan (P999) and I usually get 2MB up and down unless there are a lot of "guests" hanging around the house watching YouTube/FB videos all day long from mobile devices....and there has been quite a bit of those leeching off my WiFi lately. I had been having problems the past few weeks, especially during peak hours, even after I enabled the wireless MAC filter block and only allowed my devices. That usually works but it hadn't been making much of a difference lately. Did all the modem/router resets and then finally decided to go have a look at my antenna....but I couldn't find it. :wideyed: Turned out that some ivy/vines had decided to climb up the pole and create a large and thick bush of sorts around my antenna. Pretty sure this is the reason for my poor signal and speed during peak hours. Just have to find someone skinny enough to climb the pool and get rid of all that ivy (I'm pretty confident that pole would not support my weight).

Also a bit worried that all that ivy has been latching on to the power line feeding my house and might take it down will all that extra weight. :banghead:

I have a 7Mbps plan and generally pulling just a sliver under 6Mbps down. Upload speeds are still pathetic and capped very low but as I don't upload other then the lady uploading to FB pictures that doesn't matter to me as long as its enough for solid two way communication which is fine at .35-.40

I'll say again as I always say since you said your ping is 4-5ms. You cannot realistically check your internet speed testing to anyplace in the Philippines. You MUST test outside of the Philippines to get a reliable and real test. Test to west coast in the US such as San Fran or LA, test to Singapore or other nearby countries except for HK and better to just avoid China all together. They can provide amazing speeds to their own server in Manila or Cebu but your still not on the internet until it has gone outside that server which only happens when you test outside of the country. This is an old trick they play which honestly isn't much different then me testing the speed between one of my computers to another computer on my home network and then calling that an *internet* test. They teach their techs to only use their own server inside the Philippines because they know what I'm saying is true. The real capping and speed happens as your exiting their server going onto the actual internet.

And here is the difference as the last poster mentioned. The first shot is Cebu servers and second is Sydney. And I'm pretty sure most site westerners look at are not based in the ph.

If everyone would add where they are to the numbers it would help perspective by letting us know who we should compare to.
