Bicycle is a good way to get around. I wouldn't recommend it for the national highway though although people ride them there also.

It amazes me how the few local bicyclists manage to weave their way in and out of the traffic on the National Highway and pass all the cars and motorcycles. Its a skill. Not all can learn it as I witnessed when a guy tried it on the SRP near Cebu and was crushed like a bug, or the old lady who was splattered all over my front yard in Liloan, Cebu (OK so I exaggerate. I only found a few teeth and some blood). Bottom line, bicycling in traffic here is dangerous.

Just remember that might makes right on Philippine roads...and they might back over you if they hit you so there is only one side to the story. Ambulances are cargo vans when it comes to equipment and people don't respect and yield to ambulances like they do in the first world. People with no license, registration, no insurance probably have no brakes either. Be cautious.
