Because you don't have permission to view deleted/hidden pages or classified listings. The word "permission" may have different context on a forum/website than it does in everyday English.

Here are a few of the different "permissions" for the Registered usergroup (the usergroup that every member is in by default) that may make that phrase show up.



Registered members don't have Moderator permissions....for obvious reasons. There are hundreds more permissions on the forum than shown above and there are many different usergroups that have different permissions for different reasons. Getting a solid understanding of how these permissions work between different usergroups and the difference between "Not Set (No)", "Allow" and "Never" is not as simple wrapping your head around the definition of "permission" you'd find in a dictionary.

I agree, it could be worded a bit differently in that instance but changing the wording of one phrase on a single page can cause problems. Yes, I can easily change the wording:


....but this phrase shows up in many different page templates/locations throughout the forum. If I change it for that one page it changes for all other templates/pages that call for it to be displayed...and I honestly don't know how many of the 1,202 templates in the forum software are calling for that phrase or under what circumstances/location they may want to display it.

Changing it to make a bit more sense on that one page/instance may leave a person scratching their head when reading it in another page. Then again, there may be some wording that makes sense in every instance....I simply don't know. And to be honest, finding out would take a whole lot of time and effort.....much more time and effort than I'm willing to put into it. I will throw this in the FAQ section since it has been brought up several times.
