Having money and not being able to access it. Anyone from Texas would be well advised to stay far away from Extraco Banks. I'm infuriated that, after calling earlier today and telling this POS/incompetent bank I was in Georgia and any transaction here was made by me, the very first transaction I tried to make after this phone call was declined and labeled as fraudulent. Idiots! I'll be moving every penny I have out of this bank tomorrow morning. Not the first time these idiots, that have no 24 hour customer support, have left me stranded with absolutely no way to access my money. Completely unreliable sh*t birds.

They haven't extracted anything except anger and hatred from me, they just won't let me access the d*mn account. I think Chase would be a better name for them as i have to constantly chase their customer service around just to access my money. This is also a bank that thought it would be wise to move their debit/credit cards away from the Visa brand and into the moronic and incapable hands of Discover. I've had nothing but problems since that happened. I'd advise staying away from ANY bank that uses Discover for any card services, they obviously don't know anything about running a bank or they simply don't give a sh*t about their customers.

I'm beginning to wonder if they hired a new Filipino CEO. The problem is they can't say I'm a guest in the US and to behave myself/watch my mouth. I'll be up early tomorrow morning to tell them exactly what i think about their bank, where/why i will transferring my money and letting them know where they can shove their "5 minutes or less customer satisfaction survey". From Chase Bank World Headquarters
    Dear Mr. Wrye:
We understand you are trying to withdraw funds from Chase Bank. The problem is Chase does not have banks in the country of Georgia. We suggest you try JSC Cartu Bank in Tbilisi Georgia or Pasha Bank also in Tbilisi. If you choose to move your funds to one of those banks, good luck!
BTW, our customer service rep, Bruce, was excited by the language you used and hopes to meet you at a "club" someday.
    Have a great day.

My brother is being screwed around by Wells Fargo at the moment, his wife's separate account was one of those who was having fake accounts opened in her name so W Fargo's bankers could meet the quota for new accounts. I bank with Chase and they canceled my ATM card when I walked in to get a new debit card. I want both for redundancy. Shouldn't be too hard to straighten out as I can close that account on the spot. I'm not married to any of them.

I have a Wells Fargo account, but so far, they haven't screwed around with my account. I opened my account in Oregon, but have read that many accounts in California were messed with.

I maintained an account with USAA as they have lots of clients who live all over the world (military retirees and Vets).

I recently opened up a Fidelity account which has ease of use all over the world as much of the stuff you can do with them is internet friendly.

But this banking business mess is not a good thing for us everyday people.

I have one credit card (Chase) that is notoriously slow in releasing back to me any part of my credit line on that card when I use that credit card to place a reservation deposit or hold by me to another business (a hold to a hotel or to a rental car). Even if the "hold" charge is never used, I still have to wait several days for that "hold" money to be credited back to my credit card.

Although I am not charged for anything as the reservation hold was never used, whatever that amount of "hold" money was "charged" on that card DOES reduce my total amount of credit line available for me to use on that card until the "hold" is released. And that can take 3-5 "business days" AFTER the hold is released by the hotel or rental car.

What this means is that Chase is using my credit card "hold" money for several days and working my credit card "line of credit" money before they credit it back to my total credit line. Multiple that amount times millions of customers they do that to every day, and Chase is making bank off the backs of their customers' credit card lines. Meanwhile, their customers have less available credit on their card to use until the money gets put back onto their credit line - money that was never used to begin with.

I've gone rounds with them over this, but this is the banking/credit card world of doing business/making money these days. They know what they're doing and they don't care cuz there's no rules that say they can't do this.

I can see where it could take 24-36 hours for the computer systems to realign and update. But 3-5 business days?

    V/R,

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Man, this really sucks!

I hope you can find another bank that has their poop in a group....

I haven't had the problems with the hold transactions, just making them. . I was going to open a Wells Fargo account but they made the headlines with that multiple accounts fraud scandal so I stayed away from them and will probably not go with them unless every single employee and manager that participated in that nonsense is fired and thrown in prison. That likely won't happen so they are off my list of potential banks to switch to.

Chase isn't sounding much better. USAA is certainly one I will look into though. I just got off the phone with my bank today and they said it should not happen again and have mailed me a new card with the chip in it as a backup. I have some serious doubts about that though. I will be in 5 different countries in the next month and I am almost certain it will trip their poorly coded fraud detection system...which they say is impossible to turn off/opt out of. I'll be certain to carry plenty of cash with me while traveling (which I hate doing) to avoid any embarrassing/trip delaying moments.

Once I find a reliable bank and test them out for a couple months I will start moving my money out of my current one. It's a shame because they were a great bank to work with prior to this move to Discover cards. Absolutely nothing but trouble since then. My first question for any bank will be if they use Discover for their debit/credit cards. No way in hell I'll ever put another one of those cards in my wallet and I'll immediately leave any bank that switches to them.
