Sung Kim was sworn in as US Ambassador to the Philippines today. Ambassador Kim was born in South Korea in 1960 and became a US citizen in 1980.
Ambassador Kim replaces Philip Goldberg. Mr. Goldberg was called a gay by President Duterte and maybe that was a signal it was time to leave Dodge.

I doubt the @ss clown's loud mouth had much of anything to do with it. The guy is a respected and experienced government employee (having apointments by both Democrat and Republican presidents).

Might also be meant as an in-you-face gesture to North Korea.

Respected and government employee shouldn't be in the same sentence in my humble opinion.

There is a huge difference between a politician and a government employee!

Could have had everything to do with it. It is a good idea to have an Ambassador with a good relationship with the host country government. Even if the Ambassador in question is the best ever, if the new president doesn't like the color suit he wears or any other reason, even if totally stupid and unrelated to politics, it would be a good idea to replace him so a more calm diplomatic relationship can continue.

Nope, too many cases where they abuse their petty position. I can say I've seen people who move slower than government employees though, they were the people laying down at funerals.

Lets examine a government employee shall we? Or rather allow Jason Chaffetz do so for us.

It appears that some at DHS have been stealing taxpayer money at DHS since 2008, it was reported in 2009. Reported several times since 2009 and again January 22, 2016 and a mere 9 months later an investigation has begun into the theft of tens of millions in taxpayer dollars that has been reported multiple times since 2009? It only takes 7 years to begin an investigation?

Every US service member, every DoD employee, every accountant for the IRS, every social worker are government employees. I have been a government employee. Most are good people doing their job with integrity and honesty to provide for themselves and their family. To point out a few bad apples and say they are all bad is a ridiculous and ignorant comment. It would be no different if a pulled up a bunch of news article about expats in the Philippines that have been busted raping little children and then calling all expats, including you, Pedophiles and sexpats.

You may not want to bring up the military. I believe the average grunt is probably a decent employee but we have fired a lot of generals lately.

You probably wouldn't want to bring up social workers if you put much thought into it. They frequently take kids away from good parents on the say so of someone who is using them for revenge and the parents have to go to court and get their kids back. Those kids are mentally scarred when they return from foster care.

There is a difference between saying someone doesn't deserve my respect because of malfeasance in their job and accusing people of criminal activity in your analogy.

You can say that all expats are child molesters (a criminal act) if you want, you would be part of that subset. I won't tell you that you can't. There are already people who do. Won't bother me a bit, if you want to become Peter Vandever's new best buddy. Have at it.

I have worked for the USG and I can guarantee that it is more than a few bad apples.
