    The amount asked for is little different to what one would pay for a years tourist visa. It's all about money. If you pay what you owe you wont get blacklisted. Have I ever been screwed over? Yes by this guy. Immigration officer nabbed for extortion I hear he is living it up in Dumaguete now. As a single person I was also offered a balikbayan stamp at the airport for "a price".

    Tourist visa now is good or 3 years before you have to leave the country

    That didn't come out as a bit suspicious? A free visa at a cost? No questions about what the visa was? Was it done or of ignorance of the law or thinking you could get away with it and save some money?

    I got screwed over at immigration multiple times in my being here near a decade. 1k peso's late fee's and all that crud. I filed a complaint and even tried to sue. I was told though I was crazy for trying to sue myself for lost late fee's.

    I'll also add this.

    3k peso's for a basic extension (6 in a year) = 18k peso's
    5k peso's a year for icard and the yearly checkup things = 5k
    1k per extension late fee, 6 late fee's in a year = 6k
    Total = 29k peso's

    Seems to me those who didn't follow the rules are actually getting off light. I'd be going after that 29k peso's plus another 10-25k a year fine it it were me and someone is that far off. We're not talking about people who missed an extension or were even just late a month. We're talking about people who for years didn't pay for their visa's. In a foreign country one should respect all laws.

    Yes, yes I was a few times. Sometimes just a few days or a week forgetting when it was to be renewed.

    Sorry about that. I was drunk when I read it and on my way to getting drunk again when I replied to it. I think anyways, hard to keep track, this d*mn Uber thing in the US makes alcohol consumption d*mn near risk free...though my liver would probably disagree. Ha

    Rudy wanted 10.000 up front and another 10 when he met me at the airport coming back to stamp my passport.
