I have seen a decent looking ambulance transporting people from Sibulan to Siliman Medical Center but I don't know where to find the number. If there is more than one kind of ambulance I want to find the best equipped and quickest one, regardless of cost. How can I find a landline or cell phone number for that? And what is the cost (I would pay it but want to know what to expect.)

I had an 'almost' emergency early this morning and I had no idea who to call. All of my friends with cars live quite far from my house and it was not a good idea to drive myself on my motorcycle through the pouring rain at that moment.

While I thinking on it, what about numbers to call for the fire department, police department and NORECO emergency. I should put all those numbers next to my phone and I should have landline numbers plus cellphone numbers available. But I am not that organized so a landline for an ambulance would do nicely.

I've heard that 911 has started working in Dumaguete. These are, of course, second hand accounts about the emergency service number actually working. Not something I would want to risk in an emergency given that it is the Philippines and what works one day might be "out of stock" or "wait awhile, sir" the next.

Seems like SMC would know all the players.

Emergency numbers are posted at various locations around Sibulan, such as the ferry terminal. Ambulance cell numbers belong to the drivers, and drivers are 2 daily and change from time to time. The police post has current numbers. I have
    0936 731 3753
    0905 201 7914
    0936 145 2726

the fire station, nearby the ambulance parking spot, is 419 5001

I may be wrong now, but, from what I remember (we had to use one for my husband two times), most ambulances there in Dumaguete are not "well-equipped" at all...and lean towards only being transport vehicles. You won't find defibrillators, IV supplies, airways, etc.. (nor anyone that knows how to use them). I don't believe there are paramedics/EMT's, although, it would be a good idea if they at least utilized all of the out of work nurses and had them ride in the ambulances to at least provide support services en-route to the hospital. At one time, SUMC only had one defibrillator, and I asked when I was in the ER once where it was, and it wasn't in the ER (I honestly don't think they even knew where it was!), hopefully they have more now. Dumaguete wouldn't be the best place to have a cardiac event or an emergency that requires true ambulance service. I had considered investing in my own personal AED just in case an emergency arose that required one.

On Streetview I saw an ambulance vehicle in Valencia stationed. How well is that one being equipped?

best bet is to contact the sibulan LGU as it all goes through them, but there are no medical facilities on board its just a transport wagon, here in amlan more often than not they will sting you for the 200 peso fee upfront, and last time i had to give them petrol money too

I found this article from 2012. I am not sure if this service is still available or has managed to stay afloat. I had no idea when I was there until 2015 that there were any "properly equipped and staffed" ambulances available in the Dumaguete area. Anyway, might be worth checking into....

Breaking the sound barrier when heading towards the hospital is not first aid.
