All the time I've spent in California, I have never felt a earthquake. This morning in Banilad, 0315ish... I was smacked in the head by my lady and was told "earthquake" it lasted 3 seconds..all i remember is the smack.... Maybe 10 minutes later...Not sure... My early warning system went off ( upside down glasses in a tupperware bowl with coffee cups on top of them....) they started rocking and i was on my feet before i knew what i was doing. All i could think about was i was on the 3rd floor and Charleton Heston.. this lasted 5 seconds ...I think ....I could be wrong due to mass hysteria...My lady told me to get back in bed ...it's the safest place... About 10 minutes after that the cups shook slightly for a half a second.. No more sleep for me.
Dont worry youre not the only one,my mrs was up packing a bag just incase it was the end of the world, second time in 2 weeks!
Never felt a Thing, Dead to the World but my Wife was awakened and Told me at breakfast. She doesn't seem to Panic, Just leaves me to sleep.
I would suggest it depends how well the building is constructed. Some filipino houses and businesses will collapse at a 6.0 earthquake because they are not designed, they are just thrown together. Well-built houses seem to do OK. I was downtown Cebu during the quake of Oct 2013 and it seemed to me the safest place was out in the middle of the street away from falling debris, but each situation is different and it depends how fast you can get out of the building.
These were a few pics of the 2012 6.9 mag quake up toward la libertad. The aftershocks went on for weeks after that one, heres hoping no more like that one
