Many times we read and or Hear about how people (Us and Them) are treated with the Prospect of Hospital care. So I offer this to say what the law says BUT we all know what an @ss it can be; *https://negroschronicle.com/law-prohibits-patients-detention* As always Your Mileage may vary
Its not just patients they won't release. When a friend died in Silliman the guard did not want to release his live in partner who was there taking care of him the whole time. Apparently someone has to sit with the dead body in the morgue until the bill is paid. Me and some friends escorted her out of there and went back to talk to the administrator the next day. They can be quite unfeeling and quite unconcerned about any possible legal proceedings. Has anyone here sued Silliman Hospital and won?
About time this was more public, always the same here cash first and life second. It needs to change so a step in the right direction. Like ive said before its not the drs its the admin of the hospitals who are just money money money!
"Dr. Villamor clarified that patients in private rooms are not covered by the law." Does this mean private hospitals or private rooms in public hospitals?
Since most hospitals are private and there are very few (if any) private rooms in the provincial hospital then my best guess is it refers to those of us who want a private room in any hospital.
I think what they mean by "private room" is a room that only you are staying in. Silliman has rooms where you are in there with 5-10 other patients (along with their non-sick visiting family members). If you op-out of those rooms and go for a more expensive private room, which I absolutely would do to avoid catching whatever it is the other patients have and to avoid the radio blasting from cell phones from their family members, then you are going to be more of a prisoner than a patient.
That situation came up today with a friend who was helping another guy's wife get her husband out of SUMC hospital. I told him I'd heard this and that over the years including signing a promissory note-but I wasn't sure about anything. I think his decision was for them to just leave after the admin kind of refused to meet with them. I should have added he was unable to pay his p50T bill today
