So anyone know when Kamalig burned down and what happened and if they are gonna rebuild? Just drove by there tonight to see its burned out to a mere shell.
When I drove by in the dark it looked like it had burned down but this Facebook post I found says it was "quickly torn down and moved to a new location" so I am still clueless, as usual :-)
There were doing some construction/demolition work there last week. They had removed the area in the back that had been added a few years ago, stage and table settings, but I only thought they were doing remodel... I will wait for the Bamboo telegraphy to start working on the subject... Looks like the determination of activities is still up in the air... or smoke on Dumaguete forum for now.
Their new premises is nearly completed on Hibberd Avenue. The reason for closure was sky rocketing rent.
In the last two years he had put at least a million pesos into bilding new private Karaoke rooms and a stage and large concrete enclosur for bands to play, on a leased lot. Now it is all torn down, even removed the raised concrete floor. (I assume he probably did this out of spite) That seems like a big gamble/loss to me. Hope the new place is better.
