1:30 p.m. Wednesday 08/17/2106/ Well, we almost made it 2 days without a brown-out. Almost. So here we go again.
Too bad NORECO doesn't have some competition. Maybe DU30 needs to look into this ?
Yikes, power just surged for 1-2 seconds, not good for the electronics or appliances. Gone again.
My battery back-up hasn't been used in almost 2 days, this way it will feel wanted.
By the way, sunny here, no rain. Go figure.

Here in Maluay/Malatapay we experience Black outs every Saturday and most Sundays, often for the entire day (and occasionally at night during the week), so far I have blown two Power Supplies in my PC and two Monitors as well as two Pedestal Fans, I assume due to the Brown outs?

I was taught a Black out is NO Power and a Brown out is when the voltage drops in and out where lights turn from White to dull Brown which is when you experience damage to any electrical Motors and other devices...

So far the Laptop has survived I assume because of the transformer-charger setup Vs. straight current which fluctuates during the Brown outs.

Can anyone suggest a GOOD RELIABLE Computer Store in Dumaguete who might be able to repair my PC or build a PC that is not cheap Chinese shyte like the monitor I bought from a well known (for Chinese rubbish) outlet store in the City as well as buy a GOOD UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to hopefully spare my future PC the same fate?

I miss to be able to go to buy quality parts like in Oz to build/repair PC's :/

I bought my APC UPS from Octagon in the mall. Several stores in the area carry them including Lazada

It all starts on tue lunchtime when the main internet cable on the bacong-valencia road gets ripped down by a truck so no one has internet or phone for 24 hrs!
Then to top it off as we were eating we were graced with a brownout, came back on an hr or so later so all well. Then at 1.30am wed off it goes again for 9 hrs this time so txt the pulangtubig maintenance office and as per usual no response!
So after coming back on at 10am wed, its off again at 1pm until 3pm and back off at 3.30pm until 5.30 pm.
Luckily enough the phone was back up so phoned the office for an explanation but as usual again none was forth coming from them!
Grear service from our reliable elec co again not!

No explanation or sorry sir for the inconvienience!

Seems that power generation isn't a problem in the Philippines. The distribution of said power on the other hand....:banghead:

Dang it anyhow, for the last hour I have actually been experiencing a REAL brown out. The power is there and then it fades to the point where my air conditioners slow to almost dead but the lights don't dim. Whether I have 1 or both aircons going they are both suffering the same loss of power. I supposed I should turn them off tonight but WTF its Sunday night and its not particularly hot so who's using all the power to make it fluctuate like this?

Maybe we are, I caught a little bit on a TV Doco yesterday of a foreigner complaining to the Hotel Desk in India about his hair dryer cutting out as he was drying his beard, the woman at the desk said it is common just a brown out, when he asked how common it was she replied "Oh only around 46 times a day Sir"... Makes me HAPPY I am in the Philippines!

I had a friend back in Oz who repaired Washing Machines and Refrigerators as a part of his Business and he told me to always switch off appliances during Blackouts to avoid the surge when the power came back on. BUT IF it was a Brownout UNPLUG STRAIGHT AWAY!! As it is the Brownouts that destroy any appliances that have an electric motor inside of them ESPECIALLY IF they are running at the time of the Brownout. I still follow that advice here as best I am able to as I believe it was very good advice...
