    A lost kitten has appeared at our house; I think it is about 5 to 6 weeks old but I am no expert. Unfortunately we are going away very soon - does anyone know of a person or group who looks after strays (I know what you will all reply to that one!)?

    I took one in 3 years ago, but the cats here are filipino cats. That one cat had kittens and they had kittens and now all of them and their relatives too see me as their meal ticket and I gotta feed them all. Better to let them fend for themselves. Lots of rats in the fields. :banghead:

    Had to read this reply a few times before I realised you were actually talking about Cats, after a couple of years here it seems it is not only the local wildlife here that resorts to this type of thing as a means of survival... :shifty:

    If you have not found anyone to take in the kitten to date, and you have Facebook, you might try one of these groups;

    For a few days we took the kitten just outside the house and walked around with it; one day we spotted a possible mother and so put the kitten on the ground .... the adult rushed up, picked up the kitten by the scruff of the neck, and rushed off again. We hope this was the mother.... unless kitten-napping is rife here (we have NOT to date received any ransom demand). Btw, in English a cat is also called a "p*ssy" ... as in "May I stroke your p*ssy please?" I was sad to lose my p*ssy but if I miss it too much I guess I can find another one locally.

    Yeah. Feed them. They will stay with you. I felt like animals are quite good in understanding the human thoughts.

    I agree, we had a foreigner guy here not long back with the SIL and my Askal Dog wanted to chew him a new *sshole! :smuggrin: When I said that I believe Dogs are very good judges of character, he became very miffed with me... :rolleyes: But I still think animals have a very good natural instinct about people... :wink:

    Since we took to throwing a bit of food out for the stray Cats our Rat problem has disappeared now for more than a year, I like Cats! :smile:

    I don't know.
    My fiance thinks that all cats have rabies. lol She didn't want me to let a kitten I was playing with, bite me. She said it has rabies and that all cats have rabies. It must be something that she was taught where she lives to keep the kids from messing with the feral cats. I had to explain what rabies really is and that it's not something that just naturally happens in cats. Her family has a few cats that hang around there, but they are not people friendly, just there for the benefit of some scraps and probably to keep the rats away.
