    BE PARANOID!

I sold my Daughter's Car for her before leaving Australia, filled in all of the paperwork for the new buyer, all he had to do was take it in and re-register it a month after buying it when the Registration was due, BUT; somehow he managed to re-register the Car in my Daughter's name instead of his name! He spent the next year running around dodging Pay Tolls, wracking up Speeding Fines, my Daughter tried to do as I did once before when a buyer did similar to me by wracking up demerit points/fines by dodging Pay Tolls and getting Speeding tickets, by filling in a Statuary Declaration Form to nominate the Driver, but the Main Roads Department wouldn't do that, and a Lawyer told her to just pay the Fines to avoid losing her Licence, a Year later and more than $2,000AUD later the Registration ran out and the problem ceased...

It worries me as my Son sold my Car with a month's worth of Registration on it while I was here and I worry if the new Buyer is anything like the last tw@t who bought my Daughter's Car, WHAT will be waiting for me when/if I return to Oz, will I be immediately arrested and anally probed at the Airport upon arrival? :blackeye:

But as I pointed out in my previous Post, with the Mail system here :roflmao: HOW WILL THEY Post out our Fines?

The best part that you can hope for is the anal probing I'm afraid.

Did you know Brian that now you can now give notice of a vehicle sale online and you receive a receipt number?. I actual just did it about a month ago.

Please explain mate, via PM if need be so as not to go off topic here and give a couple of ol' sticklers a coronary by raising their blood pressure. My son sold my Car back in January 2015 while I was living here (have not yet gone back to find out what has happened) and I sold my Daughter's Car in November 2014 just before I came back here to live full time. I know the horror story of her experience, it is mine I am wondering about as to whether the Buyer did the right or wrong thing... :sour:

In California the filing of a change of ownership falls on the seller. Your story above is why the burden is placed on the seller and not the buyer.

Australia needs to change many of their stupid Laws, and introduce Laws like the Lemon Laws to cover Car Buyers also, but most likely not in my lifetime, sometimes Governments are much alike regardless of their country of origin... TWATS!

Another stupid and useless policy. I have been waiting 6 years for the LTO to send me a motorcycle license plate, so I imagine I will be waiting a lot longer if they require 2 of them. In fact the last time I went to register my mc, they did not even have the sticker stamp and did not know when they would get any. Granted, I live on Siquijor, and I could not blame the local workers at the LTO, but I have no end of scorn for the national LTO for the corrupt idiots who run it as a personal business.

For example: when I first bought my motorcycle in 2012, I (and everyone else) were required to renew the "temporary" registration each week while we waited for the permanent document to be processed. Of course, I had to pay the update fee for EACH week that they deliberately delayed getting me the processed registration. The scam is so fuking obvious, and they can draw out the time as long as they wish to collect the extortion fees. I refused to pay the fees and found a "creative" way to work around it. But, I think of all the hundreds or thousands of other people who were scammed out of 10's of thousands of pesos.

This occurred at the LTO in Cebu, so really, I do not know if this was a nation wide scam, but like the airport bullet scam these things tend to spread far and wide, and like the bullet scam the government does absolutely nothing to stop it until some people begin to make complaints, and even then, it may take years, or a new administration, before the scam is stopped. But, not one customs inspector has been imprisoned, much like the banksters in the US never being held accountable.
