The best all around is Globe phone and internet combo. I been here 20 years and have tried them all. I would also invest in a battery back-up that will keep your internet modem alive during black outs! Keep in mind that doing business here will usually aggravate most foreigners. Try not to show you are upset. Smile, beg, and tip heavy and you'll get better treatment. And if you need repairs, be sure to compliment, smile, and tip the repairman so he will rush back when you need help again. NEVER YELL OR SHOW ANGER TO A FILIPINO!

 

The Internet service providers and the options thereof have changed so much over the last 20 years that your statement lacks credibility.

I just applied for 50 Mbps PLDT home fibr that wasn't even available in my subdivision until this year (and is still not available in most areas) so saying you have tried them all is defeatism at best.

 

Is that pricey mate? I have Fil-Products who are also supplied by Bayantel and PLDT for their internet as I understand it, when I asked the installers about the Fiber-Optic which was available here at the same time, I was told 60K php to connect and 30k php per month to avail. Not sure what the speed of Fil-Products Fiber-Optic was for that though...

 

As I said, I just applied online to upgrade my PLDT to 50 Mbps with a 300Gb cap per month. They have a special on this weekend only, (at least they do if you have a myPLDT account), to get free install which will save me 3500 pesos. The monthly price is 1899.

I have already been in touch with a techie who says it IS available in my subdivision. I have received an email and text message to say "application pending" and they will get back to me within 24 hours.

More than that I cannot say, but I thought the deal looked good enough to give it a try and a 300 GB cap is more than I am going to use so no big deal. The unlimited 50 Mbps plan is an additional 1,000 pesos a month and I don't see the value in it for a normal household.

But I will have a better idea when and if it gets installed and working.

 

How does the battery back up work? What do I need to buy? Where can I get it?

 

I've been looking at the PLDT 20Mbps Fibre plan that is unlimited data for 1899. 50Mbps is just overkill unless 4K streaming which needs a 4K TV for an average family. However 300GB a month cap is 10GB a day or 6-7 movies a day download at 1080p.

Catch is being in an area that HAS Fibre already going to it. I'm 1/2-1km away from access and they do NOT expend to you even if your willing to pay for it they tell me in the office. They will do that for DSL but not Fibre they say.

Globe though is what I currently have and I have a 10Mbps business plan with a 10GB a day cap and I'm paying 2900p for that. The Fibre plans for 1899 is 1k cheaper and twice as fast and unlimited or 5x as fast with the same cap.

Of course which delivers better true speeds fluxuates heavily and each has an * average guarantee* that is like 1/4 the speed your paying for.
