It's unfortunate for Japan but a test on a long range missile must fly over Japan. (And it is technically over Japan as a country's airspace ends at 12 nautical miles.) Also, a missile would have to fly over Japan to get to Guam or Hawaii. Missiles have failed and landed in other countries before . I don't know of one of those instances that has started a war. FYI: NK has actually launched mortars and rockets in the last couple years at South Korea....and that ended in South Koreans being killed. Not a d*mn thing happened.
I disagree. A test on a long range missile from North Korea to the USAF base in Anchorage could fly over China. But what are the chances of China putting up with that? (That was a rhetorical question.) Why then, should Japan put up with it?
I didn't say they had to put up with it, just that it was unfortunate. If Japan believes they can put the smack down on NK and feel the need to do so....then by all means. I'm not sure that launching a missile over (not through) Japanese airspace would justify a war though. Then again, wars have been started for much less than that.
I think the intentions being shouted out loud and clear by NK, however much bluff it is, makes a landing of their missile on any country a very serious matter. I am aware of their past attacks on the South and they should have been dealt with then (or probably before). I continue to worry that everyone is afraid of the bully with one nuclear weapon (and other mass conventional weapons) and so lets him gain two. Then being even more scared, they let him get three.... you get the picture. Eventually he has HUNDREDS, all mobile and many on subs. What then? He demands free trade, cash, land from South Korea, Guam? The time we are giving him is the difference between a disastrous conflict and Armageddon.
China needs to get her finger out, she's spouting off at the US that this needs to end peacefully. Yet refuse's to start sanctions against NK. Sames goes for Russia.
But Jim they did (China) at one stage, they stopped buying their Coal that was a Big economic Loss to NK but I do agree that more should be done
I wonder what these two main countries (China and Putinland) would do if they were being threatened by a maniac accumulating missiles and warheads at an alarming rate and threatening the possibility of using them against their countries. Would they be banging on about diplomacy for the next ten years? I doubt it. There is absolutely no point in listening to what they have to say.
We do the exact same thing to them during their conflicts and domestic issues. It's the way the game is played. International politics is complicated.
The fact of the matter is that no North Korean missile landed on anyone's head, let's get that straight. The only thing that was injured was Japan's and America's ego. The fact that it landed near Japan is irrelevant because it was in international waters and it wasn't armed. Every country has a right to have a nuclear bomb if they so desire. America thinks they own the world and have the right to decide who can and who can't. Nuclear weapons should have been banned 60 years ago worldwide and if there is a nuclear war now we deserve it for being so stupid.
