Good morning, all. Does anyone know of anywhere in Dumaguete that does hearing tests and supplies hearing aids? I have heard there's only one such place on the island, in Bacalod, but are hoping it's not so.

There is a fairly modern hearing test machine at Silliman Medical Center. I went there a few years back with tinnitus and felt the doctor was pretty thorough.
The Doctor can advise you on where to buy hardware if required.

I would advise to conduct some research on hearing aids and the intricacies of setting them up properly.
From what I heard (from two neighbours, luckily my own hearing doesn't need any aids yet), there are huge differences in the quality of both hardware and setting them up properly (apparently bad hardware and/or setup can not only result in sub-optimal hearing improvement but even impact your sense of balance).
They both ended up getting theirs from Europe rather than locally.

It went away on its own after a while. I'm glad for that.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions, but my own hearing aid was, like it says in the song, once was lost but now it's found... (On top of one of the bookcases on top of a cellophane-wrapped box of Chairman Mao matches from China.) (damned Tanduay...)

I experienced Tinnitus for probably more than 20 years until one night I mentioned how loud the Crickets were, everyone just stared at me as if I had taken a dump in the lounge room! :o o: After that I went to the Dr and explained how my life is surrounded by Cicadas and Crickets, had my ears tested and the tests showed I was 100% deaf in one ear and 75% in the other, which I think is nonsense as I can hear out of both ears, even if it is a little muffled! But the Tinnitus never goes away, and reading how some go insane from the noise in their ears, I try to ignore the sound, and I hate wearing Hearing Aides, so tend to stick to my; "Jeez the Crickets and Cicadas are loud today" theory, I can live with that!

I can concur what you're saying, I have it 24/7 only time it stops when I am sleeping. Last night had to look if it was raining, not sure if it was my Tinnitus thus it was both. Don't bother me now, before it did, although when someone speaks to me I can't understand what the are saying. Eh, what, pardon. Never mind. :band:
