MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday launched another profanity-laced attack against the European Union for supposedly lobbying for the Philippines’ removal from the United Nations, this time, by asking the bloc’s ambassadors here to leave the country in 24 hours. “Now the ambassadors of those countries listening now: tell me because we can have the diplomatic channel cut tomorrow. You leave my country in 24 hours. All of you. You must have taken the Filipino for granted,” an angry Duterte said in his speech in Malacañan. “Do not come to this country again, we do not need you. You want to expel us? You try,” he added. EU officials in the Philippines are yet to reply to Philstar.com's request for a comment on the president's remarks as of this reporting. Duterte, who easily won the race to Malacañang last year on a brutal law-and-order platform, has stoked international alarm for activating his deadly anti-drug campaign. Human Rights Watch Geneva Advocacy Director John Fisher warned over the weekend that the Philippines might be removed from the UN Human Rights Council because Manila is “seeking to evade its international responsibilities” by rejecting recommendations to improve the human rights situation in the Philippines. Duterte warns EU ambassadors: 'You leave my country in 24 hours'
And they shouldn't. Diplomats aren't requested to leave via speeches (or Twitter posts). Will be interesting to see if this is followed through on.
Someone got this bass-ackwards. Further in the article it elaborates: Philippines might be removed from the UN Human Rights Council which is MUCH different than lobbying for removal from the UN. Anyway, right after all his bluster he told the cops to stop the EJKs so its all talk, he still did what they wanted. The big news is No More Drug War!

[QUOTE="Cletus, post: 168207, member: 4281" I don't know what all the fuss is about, it's not like they do anything anyway....well except for graft and corruption.[/QUOTE] How can you make that statement when you should know that there has to be a fuss over being involved in every way with graft and corruption, it is one of the Major industries here in the Philippines. I have been told that Graft and Corruption supports a large portion of the economy. I am not an economist but my guess is that G & F come in somewhere higher in ranking than Coconuts and maybe behind Roasted Pork or Chicken. It could even approach Vulcanizing, IMHO. So please, no criticism of this major industry.
