I think I'm in sticker shock...LOL

I have been reading through the adds for apartments for rent and houses too...I really prefer a house and my GF recommends an apartment.

I think I'm in shock because I never planned on spending upwards of $200 per month for rent there...$100 or $150 tops...and the latter would have to be a heck of a deal.

Am I being unrealistic now?

It's been my belief and experience that practically anything is negotiable in the Philippines and Dumaguete of course...

I believe there's still some good deals in Dumaguete...but it's been a couple of years since I been there....am I out of touch and being unrealistic?

I assumed I was losing touch since it had been a while. Can I assume what your telling me is...the sticker shock is unwarranted?

I know things change in the Phils but not that much...anyway I was determined to negotiate regardless of the price it's just my nature...and one thing I love about the Philippines.

Negotiation is almost a lost art here in USA...but not so in Phils....thank god :D

No you're on the right track. There are many furnished Apt's for $150 or less including utilities, cable TV , phone. I just had a nice 2 bedroom in a beautiful compound for about $160. I didn't negotiate. Shop around and send a local to do your bidding for you or prepare to get ripped off.
