does anyone know of a store in the duma area that stocks fabric dye? i already checked at OK MART. thanks...
Try National Book Store at Robinson's Place or Cang's Store. When you ask the sales staff for it, it is better to use the Bisaya word for dye which is "pulôg" or "tinâ" and then specify "VENUS" as brand name. See http://78.media.tumblr.com/18d7dd0886389c146236ff6a95d26798/tumblr_inline_n55pjmnWQY1r160rf.jpg You're welcome!
Try to ensure the dye you buy is a permanent dye mate. Melinda bought dye from OK Mart and it washed out completely on the next wash. Cheap inferior rubbish and a waste of time!
Unfortunately, there seems to be no other choice. As far as I can remember, VENUS has been the only fabric dye brand locally sold in Duma's public market, clothing stores, and school supply stores since the 1960s. As students, we used to buy it for various elementary and high school school projects for the subjects Home Economics and Art -- such as tie-dye T-shirts, redyeing faded jeans, banana petiole artwork, etc., etc. The color does run after first or even second laundry washing but it ultimately holds fast to fabric, particularly to cotton. Still, there's no harm in asking for another brand of "pulôg" or "tinâ" other than VENUS brand, just in case there's something new indeed.
We tried dying my Black T Shirts which were sun faded, they look no different after the dye washed out completely by the second wash, maybe my wife is too good at her hand-washing? @kelpguy Have you tried Lazada? Orders over 2,000php are normally Free Delivery and you can avail COD if you wish. I have bought from there using a Debit Card and my items were delivered no problems. The effect of VENUS black is dark gray. In high school, I tried to dye my offwhite jeans to black but though I redyed twice, the darkest it could get was dark gray.
thanks mom! kinda reminds me of a similar situation i had in another country. i checked for dbl sided tape in all the office/stationary stores in the city and found nothing. months later, i saw it on the end of a shelf unit in a small town mini-mart.
fabric dye update; national bookstore is out of stock. cang's downtown, 2gr packets of Venus brand in stock 3 colors: yellow, brown and green. shopping rule #1: get it when it's in stock...
Also try the public market and those dry goods stores surrounding it. This time, ask for "jobos" as another Visayan local term for fabric dye alternative to "pulôg" or "tinâ."
