I managed to pick up my monthly supply of French Bread Sticks today at Hypermart. Picked each and every one off the shelf as the Girl packed them one by one until none were left! hehe The only Bread that tastes like real Bread around here! Saved me walking over to the small Bread joint in the Eatery inside of Hypermart to buy it, rare that they have it on their shelves inside the shopping centre. I bought some of the Grain bread there last week but made the mistake of putting it into the freezer, froze solid, tried thawing it and it was turning to mush, so ended up slicing it up while it was still frozen and toasting it, bit of a disaster slicing frozen sliced Bread... The only Bread loaves available locally here around Zamboanguita tastes like Hot Cross Buns it is so sweet! :sorry:

How is the quality of breads there? In Spain when I were going to buy bread in the morning I had to run home to eat it till noon  else in the evening I would have been able to smash someone dead with it :dead: :wacky: because it was becoming hard like a rock! :wideyed::sorry:

Brian, that wheat bread from Katz is pretty good. I didn't know you were having trouble getting something you liked. You know I make a lot of bread, just let me know what you want and I will make it for you. Whole wheat, rye, 7 grain, yeast bread, tortillas. Take a look at Joy's facebook page and let me know if you want any of those oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip cookies and they are yours. I am pretty sure I can send the stuff through Norm.

Yes sour dough bread proving hard to find! Have had a nice Rye loaf from Ludwigs bakery next to Mandaue Foam opposite the Hypermarket on Jose Romaro Road. Trying his Wholewheat & Multigrain bread now and this has a nice flavour and crumb texture. It is a bit hit and miss what they have so go early not late

Same as real French Baguettes in France made from flour, yeast abd water only no fats or emulsifiers unlike much of the French bread sticks here which have a soft crust and close soft crumb texture. I would die for a real crusty French Baguette lol

I will join tuba-coma in shout-out for the Why Not Restaurant Deli's "Cereal Bread" -- the densest, heaviest, full-fiber REAL Euro-bread in fair Duma-town.... "healthy meal-in-itself" quality. They also do a good Rye, and offer cheeses & deli-meats to go with your wholegrain bread well.... :-)

I buy good whole wheat and multigrain bread at Ludwig's German Bread across from Hypermart, or in Valencia across from the park.
