Does anyone know a SSDI attorney that will represent U.S. expats residing in the Philippines? I have contacted numerous attorneys in the states. So far I have not been able to find one that represent u.s. citizens residing in another country. Please do not reply if you do not know an attorney that will help expats residing in the Philippines.
There's a practitioner in Duma whose lawyer dad once serve CA Supreme Court and who has since retired here but I am not sure if he accepts SSDI cases. Hope this list will help you: https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/List-of-Attorneys-as-of-DECEMBER-22-2015.pdf
Mom Miriam, Do you know the name of the practioner in Dumaguete. The list you provided is for Filipino lawyers in Makati,Manila and Cebu. I am looking for a lawyer that can represent me in the U.S. for a SSDI claim in the U.S.
Oh, I'm so sorry. I did not look too closely at the list but there are law firms there that take cases outside Metro Manila... In Dumaguete, I was referring to Atty. Marcelino Mikhail Lee L. Maxino (Phone 035 225-4323 or 035 422-1536, with office last known to me as 4/F Plaza Maria Luisa Hotel, Legaspi St. corner Sta. Catalina St., Dumaguete City). jellyfish and grandpainak previously suggested him in an earlier thread Anyone know a good lawyer in Dumaguete? In addition, there's a Filipina practitioner in New York City who is into immigration advocacies and could be worth the while inquiring whether she would handle SSDI cases for American expats in the Philippines: Rhodora M. Roy-Raterta, Esq. The Migrant Center at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. Francis of Assisi 135 West 31st Street New York, NY 10001 (212) 736-8500 ext. 305 / rraterta@stfrancisnyc.org She graduated one year ahead of Mikh at UP. Her husband - Atty. Erle Stanley B. Raterta is from Duma and a graduate of SU - works as a paralegal in NY.
