South Korea Building Dumaguete Airport

The "feasibility study" is still for it to be in Bacong. Some people are going ahead with projects as if the project is all approved but having been in Philippines for a decade, I find it very rare that a feasibility study results in anything more than spending someone elses money. IE: The bus-train thingy that they were showing off in Cebu that is not there any longer.

Its like you said in another thread: How can a city department just decide to go private when the mayor says no? Well I ask you, how can a province just decide to move the airport when the governor says no? Answer: Maybe it will happen. Just wait a while.

 

It *may* happen but I doubt it will in the next 10-15 years. Dumaguete has so many serious issues already completely ignored for many many years and airport isn't anywhere near the top of the list. Further a bigger and better airport would demand more destinations besides Manila/Cebu and I really do NOT see Cebu Pacific or Phil Air supporting that as well as they already make big bucks forcing people through Cebu and especially Manila.

Instead more money will be thrown at the idea to pad some pockets and have some of that padding returned to the approvers.

 

It's done in Bohol, Iloilo, Bacolod, Puerto Princessa last few years, moving the airport out of town. And those are just the airports I coincidentally know of.

The fact that there are more serious issues to take care of is totally irrelevant, thats whats so hard to see here. Its about making money, filling the pockets and for sure thats what is going to happen. Look at all the roads and bridges being rebuild up north, its crazy and for sure there is better use for that money. Just put some tarmac on those cement roads, lots of it was just made last five years after the quake.

But projects like that will all ways happen if there is money to be made for people in the 'right spot'.... So also with the bacong or antulang airport.... or wherever it will be.
