Is the X-ray equipment up to date or is it older equipment?

You generally need to get the order from the physician (I think).

But you do need to wait in line at another desk to pay first. After that you wait you turn to get X-ray’d. No priority number. Not a long wait. Don’t need to get there early. Very cheap cost by western standards.

But not unreasonable. Faster than in the US, between getting tested and knowing results.

At holy child hospital you can go in and order and pay for your X-ray before seeing a doctor.
Also you get to take the X-ray away with you so as you can show it to a physician of your choosing , unlike Sillimun hospital who keep your X-ray.
Holy child X-rays are also nearly half the price of Silliman’s.
All the above is from personal experience from a few months ago after going to both hospitals.

I had one done and did it the same way as I do my labs. I pay the day before, then go back the next day early, like say 5:30. X-Ray section is a 24/7 operation. No line at that time, just a sleepy cute technician. Was done in a snap and went and had breakfast.

Hi Brendan thanks for the info. I had my chest xray at Sillimen Medical Center yesterday cost P420 which seems pretty cheap particularily compared to Western prices! They gave me the xray straight away and I could take it to any doctor I guess. Will take it to Dr Bobbin-Sy my pulmonary specialist at Silliman Medical Center for appraisal and hope no signs of pneumonia! I have been diagnosed with COPD and now on a Seretide Inhaler twice a day which so far seems to be really helping and my cough has gone:laugh: Cheers

Looks like the price of the X-rays varies as we paid double that for a chest X-ray at Silliman, which is still extremely cheap compared to back in the UK.
Anyways, it’s good to here you are feeling a little better and hope your health improves further.

A thread like this one is the essence of why this site is so valuable to us all - and why, again, I say 'thanks Mr W'.

I thought health care in the UK was free. Obviously a misperception on my part because I don't have any experience with it. But are tests like x-rays paid by the patient in the UK?

Yes, the national health service in the Uk is free to all and sundry at the point of service and paid for by those who work and pay there taxes.

We have gone private in the recent past as the NHS appears to be close to collapse due to the overwhelming amount of people using the service from home and abroad.
