I still rate ADAMO as a place where you CAN get high quality food .... but, like all things, we are individuals and have our own preferred tastes.

For less expensive food in good quantity then I would choose LANTAW.

I recently had the buffet-style breakfast at ElDorado and was VERY impressed - but stopping day visitors using the restaurant and pool seems a bad business decision. On my visits there the pool has been empty (of people, not water!) and allowing in day visitors 'with use of the pool' would boost their restaurant trade.

He took that to the extreme. Eating there occasionally and in moderation is going to be fine for the vast majority of people. If you are eating at McDonald's 2-3 times/day for a month is going to screw with anyone's health. Eating the same thing at most any restaurant (or at home) 2-3 times/day for a month straight is going to screw with your health. The only thing to really take away from that "experiment" is "use some common sense, dummy!"

I remember my frequent trips to S.F. and the good restaurants there. Even restaurants in the Tenderloin area were often very cheap and very good. Too bad other factors make the City unpleasant to visit, like homeless defecating next to your car on the street, etc.

Sad, SF is a deteriorating city, generally due to the inability of the administration to make people responsible for their own actions, as Obama said on the night he was elected in 2008, calling it "personal responsibility." The "progressives" in SF turned it into "anybody can do anything, it's not their fault," or something like that... It was the primary reason we left. There is now a new "proposition" to be passed (most likely) in november. Since the $300,000,000 that the city spends now to clean up and take care of the homeless is not enuf, they want to add another 5% tax on big corporations, but they don't expect them to move out of the city. I've had over a dozen personal friends (real ones, not farcebook ones) who have moved out in the last 5 yrs or so before we left two years ago. With them, mexico is the furthest anybody went before we moved here, most to the country or the sierras or the high desert east of LA, jeez, it's hotter there than here (over 110 for the last three weeks)..

Re: restaurants in the tenderloin, absolutely but those are very close to what we have here, it was the great ones (with high prices) that made it SF.. (oh god, i miss good thai, even cebu is marginal)..

PPS, forgot Dong Juan and Senorita's in my above list.
