Sun Star DUMAGUETE CITY -- The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in Negros Oriental has started to clamp down on motorists without crash helmets, as well as other traffic law violators like drivers and passengers of four-wheeled vehicles who do not use seatbelts.

HPG provincial director Senior Inspector Silvestre Cenia, Jr. said Monday, September 17, that every time “Oplan Sita” is conducted, more violations are noted, including failure of motorists to carry with them official documents like driver’s license, registration papers of the unit and unregistered motorcycles.

I reckon if they started sitting along the Highway in key locations between Siaton and Dumaguete, they would raise enough for a Salary increase in the first week of operation! hehe

I just wish it would not take some special OPlan to get the enforcement agencies to do the jobs they were hired for. Now that traffic is definitely on the increase, they need to become more visible and enforcement oriented. Begin now before it gets out of hand and becomes the norm (some will say it already is the norm). Unfortunately, all too often, a traffic law is not enforced until an accident occurs.

They have also decided to purchase clamps and a tow truck at some point. They deputised 112 new lto staff from the pnp a few weeks back so this means bigger fines if caught.
They are even enforcing the wearing of no slippers now.
I didnt realise until i asked that the reason why you get so many bikes at each end of a check point is the pnp/hpg are not allowed to move from their position so this makes the checkpoint a complete waste of time.

I have noticed when we employ a Tricycle Driver partway to Dumaguete he pulls over and puts on Shoes and a coloured Vest with 'Tourist' across the back.

I often wondered why they watched everyone turning around or riding through the paddocks around them and did not give chase. My Wife did similar not long back riding for miles off road along Goat tracks to evade a Check Point. When they got to their destination, her friends asked her why she followed them. She was the only one with a Licence and full Registration! That had totally slipped her mind and she went into the usual panic mode to evade the PNP! lol

Lol yes Brian that was my reaction when I posted it.
I heard the last time they tried in duma the head guy got moved to Bohol or somewhere as it was so unpopular!

Moving from Cebu City where it is rigorously applied nowadays it surprised me that no one hardly bothers here in what is a fairly large town oops city.

Does anyone know where child sized helmets are available?
It's been my choice to wear my helmet wherever I go. ImI not too happy if I have to wear shoes.
If the dress code is fully enforced that will really su@k! The law requires shoes, long pants and gloves ( and possibly a long sleeve shirt).
I'll start wearing my shoes when I go to the city, at least until we see how the implementation of the law is enforced.
Again. Where do they stock children's helmets?
