The problem I have is the burning of garbage, leaves ect. I have neighbors who burn 24, 7.....the plastic is the worst. One day I had to LEAVE MY HOME!!!! It was so bad. My home filled with the DEADLY fumes from burning plastic. Our neighborhood has many children. The play in the street in a cloud of smoke. This has to stop. The island needs to adopt a NO BURN LAW ASAP. My family took a ferris to Apo Island. As we left Dumagutte you could see all the smoke hanging on the island... Let's make this a CLEAN AIR ISLAND!!!! I also came down with C-Diff....my last trip...I blame the city for not notifying residents that they had opened a water pipe in town... I may have had my last trip to Dumagutte...
Maybe print a few of these off and give them a copy. Read it to them if they dont understand as im sure alot wont. I am with you on this though, they dont give a crap about anyone else,it me me and me.
A foreigner is going to create many enemies trying, or even suggesting, the locals change their ways. Best to send the asawa out as the sacrificial lamb.
So I guess you did not check the place out well before buying/building/renting the place where you are? I don't figure on changing my neighbors much. I know how I would have felt back in my old country if immigrants had tried to change my lifestyle for me. There are many places to rent or buy in Dumaguete where the neighbors do not burn 24/7. Some subdivisions are good. It is seldom anyone in my area burns anything and if they try then the guards are right on them to tell them it is not allowed here.
When I bought land in 2002, funny enough not one fire burning. Now there is a fire burning at least in 3 locations around wife's house.
I like burning stuff. It keeps the mosquitoes at bay. And, there's something aesthetically soothing about a good fire. As long as the rascals don't burn plastic or rubber. Then I get a little perturbed.
I get perturbed when I have to shut all of my windows, stay off of my porch on my own yard, keep my child inside and take all of my wash off the line so it wont stink ... yeah I get perturbed....
The sad part is the children, who walk to school breathing the deadly fumes. There really needs to be a ban on burning.
