    With a bit of luck it might deter some of the idiots on bikes just riding around aimlessly all day.

    I noticed yesterday the price of Fuel was 55 pesos per liter. I am sure last month it was only 44 pesos per liter so if that is right then a hell of a jump in price. I often take a peek on the way into the city (Dumaguete) each month to gauge prices here. I think if I do buy a vehicle here it will be a Diesel to avoid the Ethanol problems of stale fuel in the tank from lack of use, and Diesel is cheaper and more economical than gasoline so I think it would be a win-win situation overall.

    The global petroleum price should go down soon as Trump convinced the Saudis to increase production. Trump has leverage in this respect since there are several political steps he can take to increase USA production (now an even larger oil producer than Saudi). Better for the Saudis if they increase voluntarily rather than watching the US take the business. So great to have a President who understands business. On the other hand, higher fuel prices here would reduce traffic on the road. It is almost worth the added cost. But I support increasing supply.

    And this is the big pusher of the inflation. Costs more to run the boat engines for fishing, costs more to move vegetables from farm to market, costs more to transport products to stores all around the country whether by truck or ship. Hands up everyone who believes that these companies will just say, "Oh well, another cost we have to suck up and reduce our income". No, it gets passed on to the consumer eventually.

    Rodger that!!!! The price on Vegies here changes daily biased on delivery and how much fuel is used and it is just a nut roll from there. Crosses over to everything from hardware to well everything. So unless DU1000 gets his sh*t together we are all going to suffer from out of control inflation! That’s why i bought a farm and planted everything and even just filling the fuel tank on the farm with delivery, to run all the equipment. I have had to resort to manwell labor instead of using all the dam equipment I have it’s cheaper to pay daily wage and cut off what they want to take for food for the day. The biggest killer for me is pesticides, I have gone to spraing once a month and keeping everything covered with netting. So far so good but you have to have the right people in place and be on your toes or they will run you dry!!! We are lucky to have a small river that runs through the property and I converted the pump to Diesel but still filling a 1000gal fuel storage tank every few months hits the pockets hard sometimes. I would tell all that if you have even a small area get some good soil and grow you a mini garden, it really helps the budget, even if you are in a condo if you have a small balkine use it with pots or make boxes. Being more self sufficient these days just means a few more beers at the stables!!!! Goose out

    Last month gasoline price was around 52 peso; never mind. Whether using diesel instead of gasoline to drive more economically, I have my doubts when comparing fuel consumption, it also depends on the kind of car. For instance a Nissan Navara Frontier (pick-up). With one liter of diesel I made 10 km. A hatchback, for instance a Mitsubishi Mirage, I can make 20 km on 1 liter gasoline average. So for a 100 km ride it takes 5 litres of gasoline = 225 peso against 10 litres of diesel = 480 peso.

    How can you compare the cost of driving a diesel pickup with that of a small hatchback? Why not just compare it with driving a motorcycle too?

    Some of the cost increase is also due to the train law. It's going to go up more in the next two years, gasoline going up more than diesel;

    Excise Tax per Liter Current 2018 2019 2020
    LPG ₱0 ₱1.00 ₱2.00 ₱3.00
    Diesel ₱0 ₱2.50 ₱4.50 ₱6.00
    Regular and unleaded premium gasoline ₱4.35 ₱7.00 ₱9.00 ₱10.00

    Many countries raised taxes on diesel cars hugely and are now banning diesel cars altogether - due to health concerns about exhaust composition (including heart disease and cancer).

    And few years later they will ban the gasoline cars also, because of the dangerous micro dust they are exhausting.
