thats true dave, plenty of clever folks around, but i observe is that their creativity and innovative minds comes to play when they see existing and ongoing projects. then SNAP!, their goes their invention.

cheap and clean trike, i'd reserve one it if comes to reality

Only my opinion the trikes are a unique character for dumaguete apart from they look ugly and top polluter. But given zero carbon emission ,good design with hint of colour for the aesthetic side will give it some life. But best of all i'd wish dumaguete will pedestrianized many of its sections including that of the boulevard.People should walk, good for the heart.

So you are saying that on one hand these are cultural icons that might better be left alone, and ont theother hand, they are indeed ugly polluters.
Maybe redisigning the trike is backwards thinking. Perhaps they will just be phased out in time, replaced by easyrides and taxi cabs. That happened in Cebu. As dmgte grows something will have to give. polution is a matter of numbers in my opinion, there are just more of them. Traffic lights, sheer over crowding of the streets will eventually force the issue.
It is just fun to think about a better mousetrap. I am on hold with the project right now as I am in the middle of moving to a new house. so when I get back to it Iwill get some hard numbers to seeif my ideas hold water.

What I said was only a jump from the other thread or so ,you even replied to it and went on with your trike designs. But this time you qoute me a comment base from my one line of a sentence but not looking into the whole of my message.

I was talking about electric trikes to replace the old polluters petrol guzzling trikes. I’m still much infavour of the TRIKES to remain than phasing them out completely and get replaced entirely of taxi cabs or easy rides .Dumaguete city center has narrow streets to have this mentioned again . I can't think of those taxi cabs clogging up the narrow streets of dumaguete ,take on perdices st , what a state ,you must be joking . Electric Taxi cabs /Easy rides should serve well for longer distance routes i.e. Dumaguete -Valencia, Dmgte – Amlan ,Dgte -Zamboangita so on . Cebu as you mentioned is Cebu , but look ,what a sprawling disaster of concretes ,roads flooded with taxi cabs running and roads like death traps .God forbids Dumaguete will develop like Cebu . I don't like to be stuck inside an Easy Ride in the heat with 10 other sweating people from A-C short distances in Dumaguete .

We should not be too carried away about ideas of advancement , that it overides sense of practicality . Trike designs should remain because it fits in to narrow short streets .Come as electric motors will even be cheaper to run and affordable to local business sectors . We can call it a cultural icon or whatever, but i am convinced it does serve. Electric trikes if available must be cheaper for local Filipinos who don't have the capital to fork P400K and above for Easy rides / taxi cabs. Let's go greener but giving local business sectors some alternatives.

Pickled_newt your points are well taken as we all know cost is a major issue. Walking? Filipinos don’t “walk”.
I think what RHB is attempting to workout with his power plant. I was the one that posted the expensive bike. Perhaps in time the expensive bike technology will come down in price to the point it will be a viable alternative to gas, or that gas prices will skyrocket! Hope not!
One thing that would help is if the local government would enforce the emissions laws. Also if the two stroke engines were banned in favor of four stroke.
I think Cebu City got a grant from a European country for LP Gas powered engines. That could be an answer too. Cebu City is nasty with two stroke oil fog very unhealthy City.

    gas on taxi

dave, thats right, Cebu city got the grant form EU, but they are trying to implement it on Taxis, the installation is far more cheaper compared in manila, but they're are still loopholes on the technology, breakdowns, overheating, extra maintenance, etc., especially they are used on old cars in which engines are not design to run on gas, not like the new models of car available right now on INDIA where it was design for gas

but was is important compared to usual gasoline fueld cars they earn far more better

It's getting away from the dependency of the use of fossil fuels in running the motors ,complete zero emission should be the ideals . Using gas to run the motors still is expensive in PI . The use of gas isn't environmentally friendly either way .The philippines isn't producing gas like water ,so isn't it something spooning the filipinos this LP gas engines so there's more import of this gas from contractors ,still business . It's not introduction of any new innovation that is environmentally friendly . What this country should seriously strive for is to improve the technological innovations for use of renewable energy instead ,we have still untapped geothermal resources ,solar energy ,wind etc .

i don't know if you heard of 2 pinoy guys who innovated the use of water for car fuel, in which they extract hydrogen from water to run vehicle?

i don't know which country is trying to exploit then now, because when they where here in PI the government is less supportive of their invention.

At this time the cost of “cracking” hydrogen by far exceeds the energy provided by that source. Emissions of a hydrogen engine are H2O I think. A standard gas engine can be easily converted to LP gas or Hydrogen.
Are there large gas fields near Vietnam and off shore from Philippines and China? I read about some kind of “ownership” dilemma between China and Philippines if I remember correctly. Spartly (spelling?) islands?
An electric device would be perfect for Philippines if they could get off their Butts and apply geothermal on a larger scale. The RP government is not doing anything because there is no advantage (graft) to do so.

If enough geothermal electric plants were online perhaps the cost of electricity would be low enough for Philippines to start production of Hydrogen from sea water. That would be a wonderful gift to the people of Philippines. A nice dream anyway.
