I don't think the area really wants to see an international sea port. Going to get a lot of Muslims (and in turn, terrorists) in from neighboring countries and islands.

The airport will bring in higher quality visitors (minus Chinese tourists). Still a positive net gain. It will be hilarious to watch the locals realize how good they have had it with primarily Western expats. lol

An economic zone...don't know enough about them to really have an opinion. I think these are just a relaxing of taxes and ownership rules. Since they seem to work so well I'm not sure why the country doesn't get rid of the laws that are slowing growth.

I think the bridges are nothing more than a pipe dream.

A "brewery". I guess that will create some jobs.

That's a bit of an overreaction. There is already an airport, they aren't that loud.

I work on military/international airports (my room is a couple hundred meters off the runway and my shop is <50 meters from the lights at the beginning of the runway). I know exactly how loud large commercial, cargo, fighter jets and their wind turbulence can be. F-16s taking off with afterburners will put any commercial airliner to shame when it comes to noise and they wouldn't be loud enough to call for moving to a different island....honey.

You definitely wouldn't want to live within a kilometer or two of the airport (especially in either direction of the ends of the runway). 500 meters left or right of the runway is going to be enough distance for the vast majority of people.

You also likely wouldn't have to worry about anything more than 1 or 2 flights a day from any larger aircraft at the new airport in Bacong. There just isn't that much of a demand for larger planes to Dumaguete/Negros. Just because it gets the label of "international airport" doesn't mean that there are going to be hundreds of flights a day. Louisville Kentucky is an "international airport"...and they only have a one or two flights to Canada per week.

However, I do find the sound of props to be extremely soothing/relaxing (C130s sitting on the runway w/ props going will put me to sleep in no time), if they limited the types of planes to turbo-props I'd try to find a spot to rent right next to the hanger bay.

Umm...ok? That has nothing to do with the post you quoted.
