Has anyone here bought a new scooter in Duma? I was told that if u buy new u have to wait 3 months to Get the registration. U will be fined if drive it before u Get the reg. Anyone know of someone being fined for That ?
Yes,you are not really allowed to drive on the road without the o/r-c/r but everyone seems to drive. I know of someone in cebu who was recently fine p10,000 for not having them but not here. The lto cant get their act together on this issue and it takes around 3 months to get these papers.
I was texting a guy from Cebu 10 mins ago He said the mayor there says no more fines For unreg waiting for LTO. Sounds like that Mayor has he's act together. He has a new bike And was stopped and not fined
Geting your temp plate and then your final plate number can be a very time consuming process. Don't be surprised it might last for a year or so. In spite of this, I had never any problems here on Negros while riding on a new bike and hold up by a check point from PNP or LTO. However what I did when I went to Mindanao, still without any LTO registration, my dealer arranged some kind of temporary permit, issued by LTO which allow you to drive around, though it's only valid for one week. Don't know there are any costs involved for the dealer, I did not pay for any way. I have no idea that kind of permit is still avauilable and how many times it can be renewed; worth asking around.
I received my new scooter registration after 1 year and 3 months. They just said make sure to keep temporary papers and receipts with bike. I am still waiting for plates since purchasing new scooter at Motoliance in September 2016.
From what I was told by 3 motorcycle dealerships 2 yamaha and 1 honda all said the same thing. in about 3 months u get ur #s, Then they will give u a (for reg plate) Then 1yr or more for your metal plate. A car seller said They give u a 10 day plate. If u get stopped before u Get ur (for reg plate) u will be fined I would like to know if anyone here in Duma has Gotten fined while waited for the LTO?
I bought a Yamaha bike 15 months ago. Drove it out of the dealers that afternoon, and drove it every day since. Got the temp plates after about 4 months. Never been stopped in that time. But I have never taken it to Cebu.
I have been on other islands with temporary plates, never get stopped but they check the paper for the bike at the ferry terminal
Not all ferry terminals do this. If the departure and arrival ports are owned by the same person/company they do not need to worry about all that registration nonsense.
I'm told they check the or/cr to avoid stolen bikes to transfer from one island to another. You are right it's very different how interested they are in checking the papers
