New Water Company

This is so annoying to ruin my coffee. I have to run, so this will be (thankfully) short, but will someone please explain to me why the f**k we need TWO water companies in Dumaguete, TWO distribution systems, two sets of administrations. ???

Reminds me of a government which hired a two person company (montana friend of the Sect of the Interior) to completely rebuild the electrical infrastructure of Puerto Rico. Do they really think we are so totally stupid ?? (yes we are, because we elect them when we should hang them)...

Well, yea, Dustin, they keep getting re-elected, as do many idiots in many other countries of the world. Like the US which screams bloody murder about the current white house occupant, and then can't get more than 60% of the opposition to vote..

If the intelligent voters in the Philippines really rose up against the corruption, like 33 yrs ago this week, this country could be so much greater.

Except the corrupt ones really don't care about us, we can't vote. It's my local friends i'm concerned about.

 

Unbelievable! This really is the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time. Once what should be a public utility service is in competition with a private company then what happens when the public service discontinues due to loss of customers -- then when the private company has a monopoly on water, watch the price of water skyrocket. Maybe this could work if there are substantial regulations on the private company - but with that being the case why would anyone invest 1.8B knowing that their profitability is capped? They say, "trust us - we will lower the cost of water" .... right. That's not even to mention the incredible waste of resources to install dual sets of water feed piping to every house.

 

That's a good point Rye, but I still don't think that the solution is privatization. Have you reported this leak to the office? We live in Sibulan and one of the main water lines runs alongside the road to our house. Several times I have spotted this line leaking and we phone the office and usually within a few hours there is a crew there to fix it. That's how is "should" work, and if it doesn't, then the solution is to fix the system by getting the right people in there and allocating them the resources they need ... and then hold them accountable; not abandoning municipal services to privatization. I do know that is much easier said than done, but in the long run that is the better solution.

 

SEDONA, you are absolutely correct, this is insane. If i remember from another thread, you are Filipina ??? The Filipinos on this board need to tell Remollo that if he continues with this obviously corrupt insanity, he will be pilloried in the press and reported to Duterte. I would hope that he wouldn't be re-elected, but politics here being almost as corrupt as the US, it won't happen unless his handlers turn on him... pathetic, miserable, appalling, insane, head-shaking.

No! but we had a jeweler in the UK called Gerald RATNER who told the press at a conference that his stuff was Rubbish. he did not last too long after even though, he was the 3rd largest jewelry chain at the time, as we often say you just "can't fix stupid"
