Suggestion Total knee replacement

Thanks. I'm feeling out some of the hospitals there. At which one did you have your operation ??
Or better ( I see this topic interest more people) could you pls share your experiences about transport, hospital and cost with us ???

 

If you don’t want the hassles of Minila TMC Clark is a top notch facility! I have a really good orthopedic doctor and most of the Dr come from Manila. Prices really depend on what you need! Rooms are cleaned everyday 1000p a night with free WiFi. If you want a fridge add 200p, and they go up from there price wise, their number is 045-300-8888, from there they can put you in touch with whatever Dr you need, they take all kinds of insurance but not Medicare! If you are a Veteran they will do all the paperwork for you and everything gets done. The biggest problem is transportation to the place, they run a shuttle service but I’m not sure if it’s 24/7. I am a veteran and all but one of my Dr s is from Manila, really friendly staff and the food isn’t great but you can make requests, fast food delivery is no problem either so it’s really up to you. If you are alone they will help you as much as they can, but understand your not the only one there, they do have a service for ya tho, off duty nurses will help but I don’t know the price for that. But all around for me it’s probably the best place here! Bungrad in Thailand is the same, I have been there to, so if you want to stay close to home those would be my pics! Good luck

 

Like you, I was getting nowhere by emailing from overseas asking questions and realised I had to go there myself to make progress. As soon as they knew you where there in KL they suddenly became interested. I made an appointment and had some tests done that day (x-rays, blood pressure/heart rhythm type stuff) paid the bill and was on my way back with an operation appointment in place. Only had to pay the bill before the day of check in, which was a month later, with a final adjustment to the bill on check out, depending on complications during surgery, etc). So, first trip took a few days and I was very pleased.
When we returned we booked a nearby room or 2 weeks (around $25us a night), the hotel was excellent value for money, as were the taxi's(that includes uber and grab). Super system they have there. The op went well and was discharged after a couple of days, just had to go to the Dr's office after a week for a check and x-ray, to get a final release to go.
I was treated at Quill Orthopaedic Specialist Centre and stayed at One Avenue Hotel near a large mall.

Philfoz, I'm trying to avoid a two time travel have therefore X ray's made here and want to send them to the hospital of my final choice. Hopefully may get an appointment date and be operated on a few dais after. This may require a deposit but that's Ok.. Got an all in price from two Malay hospitals both RM 30,000 what's about P 382,000.

I am new here trying a pulse on Dumaguete for retirement. On this topic of TKR, I've had both knees done a year apart, last one left knee on New Years Eve 2018-19. Three months out, I feel 95 % recovered, my older knee 98% recovered. I consider my outcomes excellent attested by my summiting Mount Wilson in SoCal, USA twice in a week, a ten mile loop of 5000 ft ascent. I'm a hiker and my Kaiser Hospital surgeon advised that the stronger your legs are prior to surgery, the quicker the recovery period. Mental motivation and drive is a huge part of success as well as an unusually high tolerance for pain. In my first knee, rehab consisted of kicking stretch rubber bands attached to a chair. I thought that was weak. I just started to walk as much as I could tolerate and asked to be discharged the following session. PT told me to pass the wall squat and stairs test, did so and was discharged. On my own, rebuilt my strength by slowly hiking peaks incrementally higher elevations. Second knee, same thing. Hiked day after surgery 1/2 mile hill. My wife told the surgeon on me and got promptly kick out of the rehab program and just hiked. Now three months out, I'm strong and recovered, no pain med use, no pain, almost full range of motion. Bottom line: Full recovery comes quicker if you push through the initial tenderness and pain with walking without additive devises as soon as possible.
