Because you aren't going to be able to buy any for the next 2 days from any legitimate business.

Luckily I stocked up prior to midnight.

Because in this country every politician wants to SERVE their constituents so badly they kill each other for the right to serve... the local supporters also want their politician to serve also so badly that when you mix this sevice with alcohol they start killing each other also over differences in opinion.

I stay stocked up, so no problem. This is only 2 day ban, during the Presidential election it was a 3 day ban.

I just drank enough that it would take two days to recover.

Yup, and it is 14% of my total vacation and 38% of the best nights to go out drinking. I definitely should have seen it coming but I'm betting the vast majority of people on vacation that spent lots of money had no reasonable way of knowing they wouldn't be able to enjoy a drink at their resort/hotel.

The law should be directed at the voting population, with tourist and expats being exempt. Other countries do this.

Stocked more than enough yesterday(4 cases), in case there are few dead heats & recounts encountered, better to 'be prepared', as boy scouts say.

I think that there are exceptions with Comelec, if an establishment has a Dept of Tourism accreditation, they can apply for an exemption, tho this has to be done well in advance & the local police informed too. Only foreigners, tourists allowed to purchase, of course.

I believe I remember this happening at Why Not years ago. GF at the time was not allowed to order or drink but they had no problem serving me but I could be mistaken.
