Whether or not staff is earning a decent salary is not my responsibility. I go out for diner 3 to 4 times a week. So, I may consider myself as a rather experienced visitor of some of the local restaurants. Obviously nowadays staff @Pasta King consider tipping as an obligation, which it isn't. I let them feel free to think so. Should a restaurant implements a service charge, I will only continue to visit that place as long as I am satisfied. If not, they will never see me again.
It is a rather personal perception to consider staff friendly or not.

    It depends on culture.

    According to Google:
Overall, tipping is usually not expected so the staff are not offended when you do not give a tip. ... Philippines was traditionally a non tipping culture but tipping is increasingly common among the local population. Locals often round up the taxi fare, so if the fare was P88, they give P100 to the taxi driver.

    Whereas in America:
The standard for tipping at sit-down restaurants is 15%-20% on the pre-tax amount. This is where you gotta remember that servers in the US are usually working for tips or on minimum wage. A restaurant might give you a suggested tip amount at the bottom of the bill, but you totally don't have to go by that.

We used to go couple times a month to Pasta King until about 6 months ago. Burgers great, lasagna fantastic, pasta very good. THEN the last time, Lasagna "OutofStock" and pasta cream sauce had separated completely. Never got around to re-try the burgers. The place will eventually die a slow death and the new owner will lose the investment...

And NEVER stiff the wait staff for a kitchen problem. They have no clue WHY you didnt tip unless you ask for the manager and nicely tell him (or her) about the problem. Probably "in one ear and out the other," but at least you tried. Please leave a tip. If SERVICE was terrible, leave a small tip, unless they tried to knife you.

Sorry guys, if the Lasagna at Pasta King is out of stock... it's my fault cz I eat it all :-) I really love their Lasagna, the perfect one with an extra shot of meaty sauce, my absolute favorite and the best in town, just for my tongue. Didn't try anything else there so far... May Pasta King stay here forever or as long as I do

Pasta King was a treasure when it first opened. We were dining there several times a week. The waitresses and cooks were very good. It was the behind the counter help..who chased us away. We did order many home delivery meals...lots of pepperoni pizza.

Same here. OK, maybe we didn't go there as often as you did. But true, at the beginning they were better. What I definitely noticed, the service got terrible and we stopped going there. A few months ago they let us wait a long time until somebody had the mercy to bring the menu card to the table. We ordered pizza. Their answer: Sorry Sir, no pizza just now. We have too many orders for take out. We got our pizza in Why Not instead. By the way, I tried the new wood fired pizza at Why Not. A bit more expensive, but really good. The staff is even trained and supervised by a local italian expat.

We used to do PastaKing pizza delivery, but the quality of that dropped off. Noted you said WhyNot. Do they deliver?.. We've used Shakeys delivery for months now, great. Any other pizza delivery that's reliable ??

Someone said years ago that these delivery kids have to use their own bikes and pay for their gas ?? Anybody really know whats the truth.

The cooks that the Italian chef trained are long gone. He was a chef for Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

He would sing at our table. It was like being in Naples again..

He was a big story teller. Once he even claimed that he was a chef for President Reagan. R.I.P.

You want real italian with an Italian chef ?? Go to Richie and Iris' new Esturya, Marco's work is fantastic (like the raviolis) and check the specials, omg. If you like al dente, go. If you like ur pasta mushy and tasteless try elsewhere. Best in Duma by far... (dinner only so far)..

On Hibbard just up from Tres Bistro between Bianco and Aldecoa....
