I have a friend in siliman with Dengue and is in need of o+ blood so if anyone here would like donate please pm me here. Many thanks
As you will know from many threads here on this subject, if I was in that situation I would definitely also accept O- ... the essential issue is that the blood of the donor(s) is cross-matched correctly with that of the recipient (your friend). Even O+ to O+ requires correct matching as the ABO and Rhesus blood groups are only ONE part of the equation and many less common blood groups can cause havoc if not checked for (i.e by cross-matching). I hope your friend recovers and perhaps this is a reminder to everyone to check on Dengue Fever vaccinations, especially before the rainy season arrives.
Prayers for your friend. One problem with donating blood is the age restriction. I'm to old to donate according to hospitals, plus my blood thinners and other meds would prohibit it. I sincerely hope and pray for a turn around.
So it seems the girl in question will survive this ordeal. Dengue was never present in after further investigation. Seems like it was a serious form of pnumonia along with sepsis so she has been very lucky. Still in icu but hopefully will be out on a ward tonight or tomorrow. Now comes the billing prob, its huge and even i was shocked at the price of the meds she needed. So now the family are trying everything to find this huge amount of money. So sad how these hospitals work with zero payment plans etc.
Places where she can get medical assistance. 1. Office of the Mayor (has to be in the municipality or city she is from) 2. Her congressional representative (district she is from) 3. The Governor of Negros 4. The Provincial Board Member where she is from These politicians have a medical aid program for their constituents, and she can claim to a max of P3000 from each. Sometimes more depending on how big her medical bill is. It’s not much but it’s something. They shoulder a lot of the prescription meds as well.
