No street urchins and folks posted around downtown Kota Kinabalu asking for coins.

Is it really that bad in the Philippines.

 

It would be great if Air Asia had Cebu to Kota Kinabalu, Borneo.. flights; going to Manila...is time consuming.

 

Worked like a champ, paid my ECC clearance at the Manila airport terminal 2! Things to remember: have to be in country between 6month and not more than 1 year and have a current I-Card that contains an SSRN number--total cost of 1,210php. Thank goodness no more trips to J-Mall!!!!!

 

When you are here on a Tourist visa, if not, I cannot compare, but looks like Manilla is charging more for an ECC than Cebu. When I left the Phils earlier this year via Mactam airport they only charged 500 pesos as Express lane fee.

 

At the Gate in Kota Kinabalu, the Air Asia rep asked if I had a connecting flight in Manila. I responded Yes. He did not ask if I had an exit ticket.

Do a pre check in...and get your boarding pass online. Avoid the crowds at the checkin counter.

At the airport in KK, there’s a computer glitch. The Gate # for Air Asia flights to Manila is A4....but there’s no A4.
The Gate will be....B4 or B2.

Pay the extra pesos and book the front row seats. Lots of leg room.

If y’all are booking on a budget airline..make sure your travel dates are correct, changing the booking date later will get you a hefty penalty. The cost of the fare.

 

I haven't checked for a couple of years, but CePac used to have a flight Cebu-KK once or twice a week. Maybe worth checking.

That part with the SSRN is important - for whatever reason I don't have one on my I-card.

 

Looks like you have been charged twice for ECC. When you stay in the Phils on a tourist visa you already have paid 700 peso for ECC. Just check your official receipt of your 2nd visa extension, so after 59 days. Among all the amounts mentioned you will find Emigratuion Clearance Certificate....700

 

Wow so we pay for an ECC even though we may never need it? Sounds almost as crazy as the cashier at the airport charging double for it! No probs will check it next time, I was just so happy I didn't have to visit J-Mall the extra 700php was well worth it!
