Passport Question Passport and immigration stamps

    Im hoping someone on here knows the correct answer as have just heard now that head office of the Bi wants everyone when you renew your passport to get last date of entry and latest stamp transferred to the new passport,this includes permanent resident visas.
    Has anyone had to do this yet as i had info today that a few have been turned away at the airport for not getting it done.
    I know we used to be able to bring the old and new passport but looks as though things have changed.
    The Bi are not very good at keeping everyone updated on certain issues.
    Theybare also charging p500 per stamp!

    No until now it was never compulsory

    After receiving my new passport 1,5 years ago, had all necessary BI stamps re-stamped from my old to my new passport without any problems at BI Intramuros. It was a requirement then already. You're not supposed to carry a valid and expired passport around just to show stamps. Don't remember what the cost was.

    Went to BI here in Dumaguete today. Showed my old passport with the original 13A and new passport. Asked about this alleged new procedure. The worker went to the Immigration Officer with my documents. She called me over and I explained this post. She reviewed both of my passports and told me I was fine for my trip next month, just carry the old passport with the original 13A and my new passport. She said there is no new procedure. Same as when I left in 2015 with new passport. The Immigration Officer at NAIA asked to see my old passport and all was good.

    Someone else may have a different interpretation of the rules/procedures. I would get the stamps transferred in Manila if you have the chance to do so. It sounds like that is a reasonable thing to expect an immigrant to do and, if not already the rule, it should be. (Even more reasonable would be for every BI field office to be capable of doing this since expired passports are not valid identification and shouldn't be used to verify immigration status, but it is the Philippines so...meh.)

    So if someone was found dead, and all they had at the time of discovery was an expired passport, you are saying that they could not use this as a means to provide the identity and citizenship of the deceased???

    I doubt that.
