I made my first order with Alibaba in August. Sadly, I did not see the "Alibaba scam" website in time. (https://andrewminalto.com/alibaba-s...e8b76c0058e7784fc72be6580fedf3#comment-483822) I ordered an item (Sine Wave Inverster with UP and Charger) from a vendor, Guangzhou City PooJin Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., and they were a few days late in sending it. This vendor is an Alibaba “Trade Assurance” and “Gold Supplier.” (Supposedly, trustworthy to have Alibaba back them up.) They sent a tracking number that the shipper never showed even existed. Meantime, I am screaming via email to the vendor’s rep. He assured me it was on the way. It arrived two weeks after it was due and it was the wrong item. The vendor sent an inverster without the internal UPS and charger. I went back and forth for weeks with Alibaba submitting evidence, pictures, etc. Once they offered a US$80 credit and keep the item. But it is not something I need or want. I offered further evidence, and they came back and offered $100. It’s still a rip off since the vendor is probably still making a profit from sending an inferior product, so I refused the settlement. Then, a week later Alibaba said they were awaiting evidence from the vendor. Today, Alibab says the vendor presented evidence that what I was presenting pictures of was not an item from them. Case closed! They provided no evidence to me of what the vendor said or showed to them. They just sided with their vendor. Yikes! This is how Alibaba “Trade Assurance” and “Gold Supplier” status protects you, i.e. not at all!

    WATCH OUT!

We ordered an item from Lazada that came from mainland china, and the vendor didn't even have a website. Stupid us, we bought a "stainless steel" spray for 300 pesos that arrived as 95% plastic. DUHHH.. We ordered a compass from Lazada last year, got the wrong item but they sent us the correct item asap..

I get the feeling that as the newyoika above discovered, alibaba and lazada are not as careful and feel less responsibility about customer service as related to vendors, unlike amazon. BE CAREFUL when ordering, don't buy anything unless the vendor or manufacturer has a website with a "contact us" button, and, remember, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...

So so true!! When they both first started they were really good at making sure everything was good, but over the last few years they have found out that it is easier to run you around till you give up!!! LOL I still order from LAZADA but I never expect to much and NEVER order anything EXPENSIVE!!! The good sellers, you can chat with them and either get their # or a way to contact them directly and do your business that way. But since the trade war with the USA started China doesn’t care at all what they send you, hehehehe. I ordered a cheep watch for my niece and got a carb for a lawnmower, LOL.. and to top it off it worked on one of my old broken ones, hehehehe.... Sometimes you just have to remember where we are and just enjoy the day!!!! Just my 2 cents LOL

Shopee does not fulfill its guarantee that the customer cannot lose when returning goods they did not order.

My wife ordered a computer table (cost about P400) and received a cheap pouch (cost P10) - some may be wondering how a package holding a pouch can be confused with one holding a table, but five packages were taped together and she did not open them all and check the contents with the courier (she does now!).

The seller never replied to my wife's inquiry but Shopee agreed to refund the cost of the table PROVIDED she returned the pouch - this seemed rather pointless as the courier cost was far in excess of its value.

The problem arose that Shopee seemed unwilling to refund the postage cost for returning the item WRONGLY SENT. So because of their rather stupid rule of having to return the item, irrespective of its value (and to a seller who seemed not to care), the buyer is out of pocket (the seller did NOT lose out!).

The answer is, of course, to complain to Shopee - but how do you deal with people who seem not able to grasp simple concepts?

The GOLDEN RULE for all deliveries is to open the parcel at the gate and check it thoroughly (we have often given back items found to be broken) - it seems an inconvenience to the couriers who work on tight schedules, but there is no other way.

That does not solve the problem that some items are cr*p and fail within a few days or weeks, but that is the same even if bought locally.
