It may be fair to submit that it is no way possible at this time in Earths history of applied sciences to thermostat the Globe, It either gets hotter or colder and Man either adapts to such with infrastructure and fore-site to co-habitat with current Global warming which is indeed a powerful reality to recon with. I for one am happy we are currently not facing a Global freezing. It goes without saying how quickly that can happen when Mankind gets really stupid. This video may be a slight more positive to all the untold aspects when it comes to such projections as a black and white (the sky is falling) affirmation.

That is incorrect. Satellites are a thing.

As for determining historic temperatures. Calcium carbonate in shells and ice sheets. We can determine what the historic temperatures were from sampling these.

I understand your input. In using the word (thermostat) I meant keeping the Earths temperature at a permanent norm. That technology if even possible may be a long way off. Cheers

One can argue "climate change" forever, with NOBODY ever changing anybody else's mind... I absolutely know that the number of "especially high tides" has increased over the last couple decades (check Hawaii "king tides"). I'm certain that over time, but after I'm gone (75 now), coastal and river flooding WILL increase. I'm fairly certain that our downtown Dumaguete yard will flood sometime in the next century from tides, not rain (map above is pretty conservative). I absolutely know that in two years time I will be living at an altitude of 300 meters...

Nobody has been saying they expect that to happen nor have they said that was the goal. The problem is the dramatic increase in temperature that IS being caused by humans and the impact that will have on our environment and food chain.

There is NO such thing as "permanent norm." Actually, there is much evidence that there are cyclical changes to the world's temperatures over tens of thousands of years (ice age, etc). What I always argue is that concerning "global warming," humans have always EXACERBATED the problem, more so in the last few centuries.

    Nobody said there was.
While true, this is a common argument to downplay the seriousness of the changes mankind is making to the climate and environment.
The changes happening now have NOTHING to do with natural cycles and EVERYTHING to do with human activity. It is proven, it is a fact, there is nothing to deny or argue about. You either accept it or you are wrong. Simple as that.
