sorry for jump-starting an old thread but i'm pleased to see this topic is handled fairly by most members and the forum administration. Jim is a family friend of ours and although I was a long-standing member of the Cebu forum I was permanently banned by a loose-cannon moderator for sticking up for him. I was more than happy to take the banning as I can't stand bullies kicking a man when he's down. the roasting Jim took on that forum was shameful considering most members come from countries where the rule of law is "innocent until proven guilty".

however, this past Friday's arrest in cebu city of that notorious British homosexual pedophile is a different story, as there are sighs of relief and cheers going up all over the city by us expats that have seen his behavior with our own eyes and have been impatiently waiting over two years for his case to finally reach the top of the pile so he gets pinched.

Feel free to start another thread about it if you like but remember that the guy was just arrested, not convicted (yet). You should offer him the same courtesy you expect others to give your friend. And let's leave the derogatory use of "homosexual" out of the thread. (I read it as derogatory given your, understandable, disdain for the man but I could be wrong. If that wasn't your intentions disregard.)

Back on topic: Were there any updates on the drug related case this thread is about? Is Jim still sitting in jail/prison?

Let the courts do their thing. EJKs are a scourge in this country that shouldn't be promoted.

there was nothing derogatory meant by including his sexual preference, I merely mentioned it so it's easier for readers to know who in the news i'm referring to. As far as "offering him the same courtesy" re-innocent until proven guilty, unlike merely commenting on a news article, I've seen with my own eyes that this guy is guilty as sin and pleased the slow wheels of justice finally found the inclination to act on the overwhelming evidence myself along with other expats and locals provided them with. we had to go all the way up to the ombudsman's office to get this case acted upon.

yes you are correct with your literal viewpoint, but in this particular case there is no doubt in my mind and of anyone else associated with this case that this guy is a serial child molester and needed to be gotten off the streets. the news reports only have a small fraction of the facts associated with this case. I can't share all the info as it's still an active investigation but it will certainly unravel in the news as things move forward. some of the facts are truly unsettling and it's a wonder he actually survived long enough to see a jail cell as many locals were hot to see this guy stopped.

You personally saw him diddle little boys or just be in the company of them in public?

Perhaps he is guilty but unless you saw the crime you say he is guilty of (pedophilia) then he, like your friend, also deserves his day in court and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Please start a separate thread about the arrest of you want to continue to discuss it.

i understand your point but since you asked me a question I will reply. think of this in the context of you and others witnessing a crime. you know the perpetrator is guilty but of course the courts have to eventually agree. As I mentioned in my post, there is a lot of info that can't yet be shared as this is an active investigation. Not to antagonize but like you have posted in the past...you have seen, witnessed and are sure ladyboys are guilty of groping and harassing expats in whynot bar, I and others have seen and are sure william antony becket is a child molester. Now finally the courts will come to the same conclusion. both you and I know what we have seen. that is a big difference from merely commenting on a news article and judging guilt or innocence like some are doing with Jim.

sorry for taking this thread a bit off-topic as I was trying to give examples of two different cases involving expats to illustrate my point on when it's appropriate to express one's belief on guilt or innocence. I understand wrye's point and will continue the discussion on the latest arrest in Cebu on another thread if there's interest.

last I heard Jim is still in jail and working on his case. Again, myself and other close friends of Jim are grateful for the even-handed comments on this site towards his situation and refreshingly fair attitude by this site's owner concerning Jim.

You committed slander, no judge or anyone took a bribe in my case. This statement right here, will get you years. And yes I am going after you in court. Why, because you posted false and degrading info on me. Now it's my turn to let you feel what I felt
