    Hello all

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section.

I wanted to get some advise from the locals. I’ve been following the topics here for a couple years and my wife and I are finally visiting Dumaguete next week for the first time. My wife is from Phil and we’ve traveled other islands many times.

I rented an Airbnb apartment in the downtown area of Dumaguete for 5-days and I plan on renting a motorcycle. I see mostly scooters are available. I’m hoping to get a decent price on a Honda 150 enduro or similar if possible. Any suggestions on best place to rent and what it would cost?

We plan to take a ferry to Apo island one day or maybe to Panglao one night if that’s possible. Can you take a rented motorcycle on the ferry with you?

What restaurants and nightlife spots would you suggest we try?

I like to swim laps in a pool early mornings and sauna after if possible. Any hotels or places that you know of that I could pay a fee to visit that has a nice pool?

Our last day in Duma we plan to take the early morning bus to Bacolod to catch the ferry over to Iloilo where will will spend a couple days before we fly to Puerto Princesa to see my wife’s family. Is it possible to buy the bus ticket online? Or should we just go by the station to buy ticket a few days before? I see I can buy a ferry ticket online but I don’t want to commit before knowing the bus situation. Any advice would be appreciated.

Forget what the entrance fee is, but it's cheap. It's behind the provincial capitol building, pretty close to downtown. Google Maps can find it if you try 'Aqua Center Dumaguete'. You do have to go 10 or so meters down a little side street / alleyway to get to the entrance, but most people that you run into around there will know where it is.

There are two or three motorcycle rental places on the corner of Perdices Street (the main shopping street in downtown Dumaguete) and Sta Rosa St. Two short blocks from Dumaguete Plaza heading south (towards Robinsons - corner after the Shell service station.

The ferry to Tagbilaran (and Panglao) does not accommodate vehicles. You can likely rent a motorcycle there. I recommmend the Bohol Bee Farm resort for a stay on Panglao. Quiet, friendly place and the best food on the island. (People come by the busloads...literally....every night for their ribs. Get ther early.) I have never been to Apo Island, but if I understand correctly, there is not even a dock there...you wade ashore from the ferry....so no motorcycles.

    Enjoy.

Apo Island is walking distance small once your are on the island. It's quaint, but not sure I would go there unless you plan on snorkeling or diving as it's a bit of effort to get there. Think of going 1.5 to 2 hours each way from Dumaguete to get a bite to eat. If you do go, there is a resort called Thalatta Resort on Negros that is a nice stop over and is walking distance from where the boats cross. There is a food market open certain days of the week in Malatapay. It's been over 5 years since I was there so things may have changed.
