Has anyone experienced New Year's Eve at the Boulevard? Is it worth going to? Anything happening except fireworks? I hope it's more exciting than Davao where all the bars and clubs are closed on NYE. I kid you not!
Completely disagree! I was on the boulevard last year with my missus and friends, drinks at the Honeycomb and then across the road to the grassed area to watch the fireworks at midnight. A lovely friendly atmosphere, not a hint of trouble. Simply cannot agree with the above post from my observations.
There are fireworks display/competition usually around New Year's eve at the boulevard. Years ago when my kids were little, I rented a room at Bethel for convenience. Today however is a different thing. It is unwise to be going around during New Year's eve as there are crazy people who fire their guns as a way of welcoming the New Year. No one wants to get a stray bullet.
I've never seen anyone waving a gun around and seen plenty of new years in with my family there. Plenty of people but well behaved.
No, they are not waving their guns at the boulevard but there are people who, as a way of welcoming the New Year, will fire their guns not at any person in particular but upwards or anywhere where there shouldn't be any people.Unfortunately, in some instances, some people or even kids just get hit by these stray bullets.
Such bullet-hits are extremely rare!! Less than in Chicago. Just today the Dumaguete Police reported that there was not one single gunshot or knife victim in Duma this Dec 31st. Not even one fireworks injury. Not one! Things here are now much safer than some of you think, based on ancient memories.....
