Are there any Cycling groups in Dumaguete or surrounding areas. ? Preference is Mountain biking.

I am in contact with some Filipino guys but are any expats into Mountain biking.

    Hi Oxy :angelic:

Most foreigners ride with locals, there are few groups regular on sunday groups rides. I dont know of any specific expat mtb group.
Its easier to find a group compatible with your skills and fitness like that. And if you like to ride the trails, locals off course know them best.
If you can adjust a little to super early rides, like starting between 5 and 6 AM they are great company for your rides.
Just check on sunday morning in Valencia at the market you will see groups having coffee there after their rides.

I ride maybe 3 times a week, mostly alone but sometimes with some local friends and foreigners.
I mostly do roads, climbing up the mountains. I ride a MTB though, for some gravel and rough roads or a little trail if needed to connect. Feels much saver on MTB.

What worked really good for me is Strava, so you can see where others are riding and via commenting get in touch. You can find me there as Dutchjob MTB.

Thanks for the reply, I am in contact with a few local guys and riding the Valencia downhill trails on Saturday coming. Was hoping to do the race they had on 22nd December but had family stuff on in Cebu.

I like the more technical type downhill trails. But also don't mine a climb.

Dutchjob would you know if it's possible to ride Mt Canloma ? I understand there are 4 walk trails to the sumit.

Never heard of Mt Canloma, sorry.

Maybe you mean Canla-on? Highest mountain on Negros, 150km up north? Or our local highest vulcano the Mt Talinis?

To really summit both in believe its hiking but road + trails will go high enough for a good days ride..

I do mountain biking every morning (6/7 days) for an average 1h30-25km from my place in barangay Junob, mainly around Valencia (Malaunay, Pulang Bato, Apolong, Bonbong, Lipton) and Bacong. I ride a hardtail (uphill, road, single trails, gravel...)
During the week, not many bikers but on sundays there are quiet a lot.
I like to ride early when temperature is not too high. I'm a 66 y.o. french guy.

    Happy new year

Nice bike, 30k is a good ride.

I ride a dual suspension bike and 30kms is about my limit.

Riding this Saturday in Velencia with the local guys. We will be doing the Downhill trails.
