Just thought I would share my solution for staying online even in brownouts.

Especially good for those needing internet connection for work.

So I have internet access through PLDT fiber.

When brownouts I was loosing connection.

I bought a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) on Lazada. Chose the biggest I could find (3000VA) and have all my computer related devices including the modem connected to it.

Now when the power goes out I still have internet, TV,. Xbox and the whole lot.

    Price and info:

    This was definitely worth it.

Not reccomended to run large fans or air-conditioning, small fans ok.

You can use LED bulbs and have light in brownouts also.

    Enjoy

Sounds interesting but for how long it will keep on your connected devices still working?

I have a 12v battery, an inverter connected to the battery. It does all those things plus fans. it last about 2 hours. If I wanted to last longer I would buy another battery and hook that up to the other battery making it 400 ah. If I wanted to I could add some solar panels to the inverter via a solar charge controller

I use a GOOD & STRONG 5 KW gen. set. runs the hole house. It will run 14 hours on a tank at near full load. 16 hours at 50% load. We live in Valencia so it gets to run a lot. It is now more that 9 years old and still running strong.

I did the same few years ago, but went with a smaller APC device (620VA, 3000 php currently on Lazada). I use it only for the fibr modem and possibly to charge my phone, lasts long enough for the usual short unannounced brownout.

A nice side effect of such device is that is also smoothes out the occasional hickups in the network that otherwise cause devices to reboot or worse. If you have a "real PC" running off any UPS it will protect it from these and at least give you a chance to save your stuff and do a controlled shutdown.

Obviously a diesel generator powering the whole house is hard to beat but not always an option (rented apartment...)

Had a look at the UPS, they have a small battery 12Ah. a computer and monitor normally uses 500 watts, so a guess would be 20 mins just for the PC.

Hi. I have not tried yet. The idea was to protect the equipment and have the modem running alone after shutting down computer safely. Then use my phone for internet as it lasts a long time and can be charged with the UPS also.

Anyone have a 5kw+ generator for sale? If not, where's the best place to buy? Thanks.

I go with my 2 solar panels and 2 batteries (200 Ah) and it's all good. No worries.
