Fully agree to date. I actually went to Mc Donalds 2 days ago and found it very similar. I had the Big Mac and actually found it better as it seemed nearly identical but tasted a little less saltier than Western. The fries I could taste they were cooked in a different oil but they were more crispy than Western and again less saltier. Absolutely loved it. I will try other menu items there in the near future. My faved back in the West was Burger King. That was actually the main answer I was seeking (Is a Whopper a Whopper?). Also, just to put it out there.... I do not find as a whole the foods are less tastier than Western, but indeed some are surprisingly (off) to say the least. Others are excellent. When I was in UK last I ordered BurgerKing and the ketchup they used tossed me way off, Did not like it. Keep the best answers coming Rye83......Cheers

I think the movie was specifically criticising the upselling of customers with questions like "you want to supersize it for just a buck more" or similar. Which is hard to resist (such great value!) and tricks people into eating / drinking more crap than they originally wanted.

I think he made that a rule for the movie - always to say yes when he was asked if he would like to upgrade to a larger meal. Which apparently happened every time

Meh. What everyone remembers is the health aspect of the documentary. Almost everyone brings this documentary up comments on the guy's declining health from eating just burgers, fries and cokes (no sh*t). His original intent is completely irrelevant. However, if people can't regularly say no to an up-sell they deserve to have their money and health taken from them (would be nice if a McDonald's "super size" also made those those that opted for it sterile). A fool and his money....

It's a calories in versus calories burned game in general. The guy was eating about 5000 calories a day and his "exercise" was walking 5000 steps, essentially not exercising. I also wonder about things like sleep. He's going to put on weight. I wonder if he did the same experiment but ate other food, would being overweight cause the same issues. He should have done a second experiment where he maintained his weight and ate McD's food to further clarify if it's the actual food or the excessive amount of food that cause his issues. Maybe it was a combination of both. He was certainly in control of what he ate, not McD's. Is it that much different at a nice sit down restaurant where the waitress comes back and asks what else you need or do you need desert? At McD's, once you get past the cashier you are home free.

Well I'd say it does matter for your health whether those 5000 calories are all burgers, coke and donuts, or coming from a well balanced diet that doesn't send your blood sugar level on a roller-coaster ride all the time.

spot on!! marketing on this planet spends billions just to get you into the front door and then billions more to "up sell" you. more square footage in your house, more accessories in your car or a more expensive model, more calories in your meal. super size is just a clever and very successful marketing tool to get more of you money which is the whole point. "a fool and his money indeed!" you gotta learn to say no!!

If you have eaten at a Franchise in the Philippines and find it Identical or fairly near to the same. Please post Franchise name. We don't need to know things like "Mary Poppins has Hammer toe's" or "If Napoléon Bonaparte was found to be a Women during autopsy".....Cheers!

Bo's. all the baked goods come from cebu for both here and the ones in Cebu. (now over 100 branches)..

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo's_Coffee
<<Bo's Coffee is a Filipino coffee and coffeehouse chain. It was founded by Steve Benitez in 1996 in Cebu City, Philippines. The company operates a total of 91 outlets throughout the Philippines, with about 30 of them located in Metro Cebu, where it is based.[3] Bo's Coffee sources coffee beans locally from farmers from Sagada, Mountain Province, Mount Kitanglad in Bukidnon, Mount Matutum in Tupi, South Cotabato, and Mount Apo, ...>>. He thought of the idea when in college,
<<After attending various seminars and training and indications that it was not a viable venture, he stubbornly decided to open Bo's Coffee in a small space in Ayala Center Cebu in June 1996.[7] Two months before the shop opened, he was left alone when his two business partners backed out.[8]

Benitez bought his first coffee machine from a coffee exhibition show in Singapore for 65,000 pesos and hand-carried the machine in his flight going back to Cebu. Starting on an investment of 100,000 pesos,[9] the business did not produce any profit for its first three months on daily sales ranging from 300 to 1000 pesos>>

Starbucks. Coffee (beans they sell as well as the coffee) is exactly the same as anywhere else in the world as far as I can tell.

I stay away from the food and mocha-flavor-whippedcream-sugar-bombs though for reasons already mentioned

Bo's coffee gets my upvote for having equally good espresso based drinks while being less crowded, a local brand, and for not dry-freezing their guests.
